SOUTH GLENS FALLS – Margaret (Wright) Hunt, 94, formerly of the Gansevoort Road, passed away on Sunday, January 31, 2021, at the Wesley Health Care Center.
Born on April 10, 1926 in Greenwich, she was the daughter of the late John W. and Pearl M. (Phillips) Wright.
She married Henry “Hank” Hunt on June 23, 1944 in Greenwich, NY.
Margaret started working at age 16 in the Steven & Thomson Paper Mill in Middle Falls then she worked at the Linen Thread Company in Greenwich. For 10 years, Margaret worked at H & F Binch, Inc. and then 10 years at Valcour, Inc. in Glens Falls. Her latest employment was with Greater Adirondack Home Health Aides.
At one time she was active in the Rebekah Lodge # 73 of Glens Falls and also the Mohican Grange. She was a member of the Funtime Mix League and the Girls Night Out League, both at Pine Lanes in South Glens Falls.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her son, Michael J. Hunt, her brothers Walter, William, Robert and Raymond Wright, her sisters, Marjorie Betty Wright, Beatrice Gosselin, Marie Weatherwax, Delia Rhodes and Mary “Gert” Carr; her granddaughter, Michell Hart and two son in laws
Survivors include five children, Pearl I. Jarvis of Argyle, Donna Manchester of South Glens Falls, Marjorie B. Dickinson (Zenas) of South Glens Falls, John Hunt, Sr. (Sherri) of South Glens Falls and Robert Hunt (Sharon) of South Glens Falls; 16 Grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; 15 great-great grandchildren; her sister in law, Brenda Wright of Glens Falls; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.
Funeral services follow the calling hours at the funeral home on Thursday at 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be in the spring at Union Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and aides at the Wesley Health Care Center for all their care and compassion, especially Bri and Sandy for staying with Margaret to the end.
