Margaret Ann Congdon

 

Margaret Ann Congdon, age 87, returned to Our Lord on June 9, 2018. Margaret resided with her daughter in Washington Township, New Jersey for the past 11 years.   She was born to the late Charles T. Collins and Catherine Higgins Collins of Glens Falls, New York on July 31, 1930.

Margaret attended St. Mary’s Academy and graduated with the class of 1949. In 1997 she moved to Hudson Falls NY, and became an active member at St. Mary’s-St. Paul’s church. She was the church archivist for many years and also belonged to the Bereavement Ministry as well as Ella’s Cupboard and was a Eucharistic Minister for the sick.

Margaret loved to dance and sing, especially “Happy Birthday” to all her family and friends. She loved to entertain.  Dancing and jump roping were some of her many talents.  No one ever left her house without her blessing them with water from Our Lady of Lourdes. As she aged, she prayed long hours daily of intercessory prayers for all in need.

She is predeceased by her son Joey Congdon and brothers Charles, John and Timothy Collins. Margaret is survived by her son Robert (Suzanne) Congdon of Hudson Falls, Matthew (Ellen) Congdon of South Glens Falls and Amy (Mark) Wassmuth of Washington Township, New Jersey.  She is also survived by grandchildren Molly (Darren) Hunsdon, Adam (Melissa) Wassmuth and John Wassmuth and step grandchildren Corey and Allyson Burdick.  Also surviving her are great grandchildren Erin Wassmuth, Tucker, Wyatt and Bentley Hunsdon. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

At Margaret’s request there will be no calling hours.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in memory of Margaret on Friday, June 15, 2018 at 11:00 AM, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 62 Warren Street, Glens Falls.

The Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in South Glens Falls.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Glens Falls Youth Center, 60 Montcalm St., Glens Falls, NY 12801.

  1. I got to know Maggie when she lived at Earl towers.
    She always shared her love with all of us. I produced some sketches
    for entertainment and she was always eager to participate.
    I know she loved to sing and couldn’t carry a tune in a bushel basket,
    by herself. I told her she could sing at my funeral, because there would be a captive audience.
    What a joy she was in my life.
