SOUTH GLENS FALLS – Louise K, Sexton, 95, a longtime resident of Saratoga Road, passed away on Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at the Pines Healthcare Facility in Glens Falls.
Born on June 25, 1920 in Quitman, GA, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Luana (Zeigler) Knight.
She graduated from Miami Edison High School in Miami, FL and earned her degree in education from the University of Miami in FL.
In 1943, she married Hollis Sexton. He passed away in 2006.
For 25 years, Mrs. Sexton was a teacher in Miami, FL. Upon returning to this area, she taught in Whitehall Central School District until her retirement. She then worked for Weight Watchers, retiring from there as a field supervisor. She was very proud to have volunteered for many years for Literacy Volunteers.
Mrs. Sexton was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Hudson Falls.
Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Edwin Knight.
Survivors include her daughter, Jane Sexton of Hudson Falls; three grandchildren, Melissa Lear of Hudson Falls, Melinda Paradis of Glens Falls, and Jerel Lear, Sr. of Vermont; five great grandchildren, Rachel Paradis, Timothy Paradis, Kate Paradis, Shelby Lear and Jerel Lear Jr.; one great-great-grandson, Austin Muzikar; one great-great-granddaughter, Dahlia Berkhemer and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
There will be no services.
The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the charity of one’s choice
Arrangements are under the direction of the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St., Hudson Falls.
I’m sorry to hear that Louise has passed. She was a kind and caring person. May she rest in peace.
