QUEENSBURY- Lena M. French, 91, of Queensbury passed away on September 17, 2017 at the Stanton.
Born July 21, 1926 in Schroon Lake, New York, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Violet (Vanderwarker) Gochie, Sr.
Lena was a graduate of Schroon Lake Central High School and attended Crane School of Music in Potsdam.
On October 8, 1949, in Schroon Lake, she married Milton B. French, whom passed away after 56 years of marriage.
Lena retired from Glens Falls Hospital. She also worked for Warren County Election Board, and was a communicant of St. Alphonsus Church in Glens Falls for many years singing in the choir. She enjoyed reading, playing bingo and taking a chance at the lottery. Her family was the center of her life. Lena also enjoyed traveling to Florida with her husband.
In addition to her parents and husband, Lena was predeceased by her daughters Kathryn E. Demarsh, Susan Mallory, her son-in-law Alan “Chick” Mallory, and her brother Fred Gochie, Jr.
She is survived by her four children Cheryl Seymour of Hudson Falls, Mark French and his wife, Shirley of Queensbury, John French and his wife, Karen of South Glens Falls and Pamela Middleton and her husband, Michael of Queensbury; her fourteen grandchildren, Dennis Darling and his wife, Danielle, Johnna Demarsh, Jeff French and his wife, Mary, Barbara Seymour, Alan Mallory Jr., and his wife, Trina, Timothy Mallory and his wife, Michele, Jessica Grasso and her husband, Michael, Mark French, Jr. and his wife, Melissa, Holly Rolleston, John French Jr. and his wife, Rachel, Amber LeFever and her husband, Aaron, Justin French and his wife, Martha, Michael Middleton and his wife, Sue, Jennifer Shippee and her husband, Chad; 26 great grandchildren, with one on the way, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.
A Funeral Service will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, September 22, 2017 at the funeral home.
The burial will follow the Funeral Services at St. Alphonsus Cemetery.
The family wishes to thank the staff at the Stanton and her roommate Connie Buckley for their friendship and encouragement.
