GLENS FALLS – Kevin R. Michon, 61, died unexpectedly at Nathan Latteur Hospital in Gloversville, due to complications from a bicycle accident on September 9, 2015, with his family by his side.
Kevin was the son of Richard and Jeanne Michon, formerly of Hudson Falls, now deceased. Also asleep in death is his older sister Claire, Glens Falls. Survivors are his Step-mother, Dorothy Michon, Hudson Falls; sister Claudia, Glens Falls; brothers, Keith (Katherine), Stow, MA, Craig, Glens Falls; one nephew and several nieces.
Kevin fought gallantly to regain his deteriorating health but struggle was his life. The legacy he leaves us is that in the face of adversity you can overcome most obstacles in your path. He beat stage four cancer twice. Kevin loved his County Music collection, the gym and spent many blissful hours downloading music at the Glens Falls Library. His legs took a beating from chemotherapy so his bicycle was his mode of transportation, even in winter. Kevin always had a smile and a wave for friends, a great sense of humor and a quick wit. We are proud to call him our brother.
When you see someone who is down and out, disheveled, who may live on the fringes of society, elderly, alone, lonely, maybe a bit odd, say hello. Take the time to talk, do a small favor, let them know they matter, afford them dignity. They are someone’s child, sibling, parent or friend. A smile and a kind word is a gift to them.
Thank you to the staff at Fulton Center Rehab Center in Gloversville, with a special thanks to Monica McGann, Jackie Ingraham, Leonard Hirsh, Sue Isabella, Danielle, Jackie, Tom, Margaret and all the staff for their unwavering support and dedication to Kevin while he was under their care. A special thank you to Dorothy Michon, who loved and supported Kevin unconditionally. Thanks to Mary DeSantis and Bob Landry of HUD, Bruce and Debbie Hersey who mentored Kevin all these years, Kevin Lynn for his compassion and patience. Thanks to Mary Gooden of the Open Door Ministry and Food Kitchen and to Jeff Wood and his congregation who kept Kevin in their prayers. A special thank you to all the medical and mental health professionals who work tirelessly to assist those with disabilities and to the Glens Falls Police Department for looking out for Kevin.
There will be no calling hours.
Interment will be at St. Paul’s Cemetery, Vaughn Road, in Hudson Falls, Friday, April 1 at 1 pm. All are welcome.
