QUEENSBURY – Kellie Rae Blackman James, 55, of Queensbury passed away on Wednesday, September 20th, 2023, after a courageous battle with metastatic melanoma.
Born on March 1st, 1968 in Glens Falls, she was the beloved daughter of Wade and the late Linda Blackman. Kellie graduated from Queensbury High School in 1986. She attended Oswego College. Kellie worked at Mahoney Alarms for the last 14 years, where she created fond memories of happy times with her coworkers there.
Anyone who knew Kellie knew this – Kellie’s whole world revolved around her “boys” – Adam, Trae, Lanz, and Troi. Being their mom was truly her greatest joy. To them – she was a fierce advocate, a protector, a cheerleader, a confidant, and a friend.
Left to carry on her memory is her father, Wade Blackman; her sons, Adam Gordon (Lauren Schwartz), Lanz James (Elizabeth “Lizzy Mae” Kenerson), Troi James (Lanie Felt) and Jonathan James; her brother and sister-in-law, Jason and Meghan Blackman and her sister, Sara Quartiers. Kellie was an amazing aunt to her niece and nephews; Jason Patrick Blackman (Rez Morris), Schuyler Rae Quartiers, and Liam Quartiers. Also, her childhood friend, Jolea Brand, her partner-in-crime, Melanie Cohen and longtime friend, Val Romleski.
She was predeceased by her mother, Linda Blackman, her son, Trae Lindan James, and her nephew, Cameron Quartiers.
Kellie was smart and resourceful and quick-witted. Due to her experience with a variety of things, she was lovingly referred to as “Dr. James” and when asked her age, always proclaimed she was “29”. Kellie had such a BIG personality. She made every family gathering an event! Those memories will live with us forever. While her pain and suffering is over, ours is just beginning. But, we will go forward carrying her love with us and taking care of each other – just the way she would want us to.
Kellie faced many obstacles and endured several hardships in her life but she never once lost her capacity to love. And in turn, she was loved beyond measure.
Our family would like to thank Lynn Keil, PA-C, Dr Hogan, nurse Jen Tripi, and the doctors and nurses at Glens Falls Hospital oncology floor and C.R. Wood Cancer Center for their ongoing care and kindness.
Friends may call Saturday, September 23, 2023, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., at the Carleton Funeral Home, 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.
A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, at 3 p.m, following the calling hours, at the funeral home.
Burial will take place at Pine View Cemetery in the town of Queensbury, at the convenience of the family.
Kellie was a grateful kidney transplant recipient. It changed her life! In honor of her transplant, memorial donations may be made to Albany Medical Center for Donation and Transplant, 218 Great Oaks Blvd, Albany, NY 12203.
It gives us great comfort to know that Kellie was greeted by her beloved mom in heaven and was able to once again hold her baby boy, Trae, in her arms.
