Fort Edward – Katherine Harriet (Weaver) Stanton, 96, of Fort Edward, passed away at her home on Saturday, July 1, 2017.
Born January 13, 1921 in East Aurora, she was the daughter of the late Arthur “Glenn” and Lillian Phoebe (Waldron) Weaver.
In 1938, she graduated from Amsterdam High School and then attended Rider University and Albany Business College, graduating in 1940.
Katherine was employed fourteen years as an Executive Secretary and Personnel Records Supervisor during World War II at Mohawk Carpet Mill in Amsterdam.
On July 5, 1947, she married Robert Edward Stanton. He passed away August 1, 1992, after 45 years of marriage.
Katherine loved spending time with her family, reading and doing needlework.
Besides her parents and husband, Katherine is predeceased by her brother, John Weaver, her dearest cousin, Lillian Bennett, and her daughter in law, Cathy (Rukat) Stanton.
Survivors include her sons, Robert Edward Stanton, Jr. and William James Stanton; her daughter, Elizabeth Ann Stanton; her grandchildren, Joelle Diamond and her husband, Kyle, Benjamin Stanton and his wife, Amie and Nicholas Stanton; her great grandchildren, Shelby Stanton, Griffin Diamond, Raegan Diamond and Evelyn Diamond; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may call from 12 Noon to 1 p.m. on Monday, July 3, 2017 at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street, Hudson Falls.
Funeral Services will follow the calling hour at 1 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Derek Hansen, officiating.
Burial will follow at Moss Street Cemetery in the town of Kingsbury.
