KINGSBURY – Joyce Bishop, 83, of Kingsbury, passed away on Monday, March 20, 2017, at her home surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on May 20, 1933, in Harford, she was the daughter of the late Leslie and Irene (Duel) Spring.
Joyce was a graduate of Hartford Central School; Class of 1950.
She was united in marriage to Earl Bishop on July 11, 1954.
Joyce worked for the Glens Falls Insurance Company, the Navy Annex in Virginia, the Washington County Highway Department, she was the Tax Collector for the town of Kingsbury, where she retired after 30 years of dedication.
As a child, Joyce was baptized at the Hartford Baptist Church. Upon moving to Hudson Falls, she was a member of the First Baptist Church since 1967, where she served as a deaconess, and sat on many boards. Joyce also served on the Economic Opportunity Council. She enjoyed her work with Joyce Clary at the church’s thrift shop. Joyce donated to several benefits, her favorite being Craft Kits for disabled veterans, and St. Jude Hospital, which she donated to monthly. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was so proud of them all and loved them so much.
In addition to her parents, Joyce was predeceased by her two brothers, Corporal George Spring, and John Spring.
Survivors include, her husband of 62 years, Earl Bishop of Kingsbury; her daughter, Dawn Fiorillo and her husband, Stephen of Hudson Falls; her son, Robert Bishop and his wife, Debbie of Queensbury; and her grandchildren, Christina Fiorillo, Jessica Brilyea and her husband, Donald, Colton Bishop and Hannah Bishop; and several nieces, nephews and cousins
Friends are invited to call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc. located at 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.
A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday at the First Baptist Church of Hudson Falls, with the Rev. Robert McCrory officiating.
A burial service will take place at Union Cemetery, at the family’s convenience, in the spring.

Bob, I was so sorry to hear about your Mom. I know how important she has always been to you and how close you are as a family.
