HUDSON FALLS – John F. Burke, Jr., 67, formerly of Russell Street, passed away, after fighting cancer, on Thursday, May 2, 2013, at Saratoga Hospital.
Born on July 4, 1945 in Lincoln Nebraska, he was the son of the late John and Marion (Ford) Burke, Sr.
John graduated from Hudson Falls High School and continued his education and SUNY Brockport.
After receiving his degree, John taught elementary school in the Rochester area.
He was a communicant of St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls.
John loved to learn and was an avid reader of books and newspapers. He also was a New York sport fan, who loved following the New York Yankees and the Giants.
Survivors include his brother, Daniel Burke and his wife, Cindy of Queensbury; his sister, Martha Sawtelle of Greenwich; six nieces and nephews; and several cousins.
There will be no calling hours.
A private graveside service for the family will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 9, 2013, at St. Mary’s Cemetery in South Glens Falls.
John’s family suggests that memorial donations be made to The American Cancer Society, 959 Route 9, Mount Royal Plaza, Queensbury, NY 12804.

So sorry for your lose. I along wilth Doug French, Bill Larmon, and John Herzog were all playmates while living on Russell and Elm Streets. John was a little smaller then us, but always fit in. Often I visit that area and can remember all of us playing football, etc. on that corner lot.
