Born on December 28, 1957 in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Leonard and Mary (Bacon) Benson.
Jeff had a special gift for music. He never had a lesson but could play anything by ear with his guitar! He played in a successful band called “Bandit”. Jeff taught his nephew, Todd how to play guitar. Growing up in our home, it was always filled with musicians jamming with Benny “Jeff”.
Jeff worked at G.E. in Fort Edward until he succumbed to mental illness in his early 20’s.
Many thanks to Glens Falls Hospital and Riverside Rehabilitation Center in Castleton, N.Y. Jeff died from cancer at the facility. Also, a special thank you to his niece, Anita, for being her uncle’s loving legal guardian.
Jeff loved his family. He left behind two sisters, Joanne and Kiki and several aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He also left behind a daughter, Jene’ and his grandchildren.
We will all miss him deeply. He is at peace with his loving parents.
He has requested no services.

I went to school with Jeff. He was one good looking, tall young man, mostly quiet as I recall. Many years later, I ran into him again at the hospital with his mom. I’d see them quite often as I worked there for many years. Mom was a sweetheart as well, we’d chat some while she waited for Jeff. God Bless her. Jeff was a kind soul who I know struggled for a long time with his illness and fought really hard. Hold on to those wonderful memories. He will always be just a thought away, always in your heart. Rest In Peace my friend. See yah on the other side one day.
Thank you so much for remembering our beloved brother!
Ah Benny! u are always in my thoughts we had some great adventures and a long history keep strumming.

Thank you for your kindness.
Joanne, Kiki (and family),
I am so very sorry to hear of Jeff’s passing. Dealing with long term emotional issues of a family member is challenging and requires the ability to draw from a deep well of commitment, understanding and love. Jeff was fortunate to be surrounded by a family who has always demonstrated the true meaning of unconditional love.
Your mother especially, was a powerhouse, a woman before her time whose every action exemplified strength, love, compassion and support of her family. There can be no doubt that Jeff knew he was deeply loved by all of you. I am sure your Mom was in the front of the line, waiting to embrace him as his spirit left this world.
Jeff’s gentle disposition and musical ability seemed a large part of what defined him. Strong family support and love allowed for those characteristics to shine. My hope is that you will find peace and comfort from one another as you celebrate his life, remembering the good times that you shared and the blessings that Jeff brought to those who knew and loved him.
You all are in my thoughts and prayers.
Sassy
