James William “Bill” Davidson

Davidson

QUEENSBURY – James William “Bill” Davidson, 55, went into the arms of the Lord, surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, March 4, 2014, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born July 2, 1958, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late William “Bill” Davidson and Deidra Davidson Weekes.

Bill grew up in Hudson Falls and in 1977, graduated from Vencentian Institute in Albany.  He was a man of amazing talent with many skills.  He began his career in construction and later went into manufacturing.  He was an employee of Finch Pruyn until his retirement in 2012.  Bill was always willing to lend a helping hand on projects and renovations.  You could always count on him to finish the job right.

Bill enjoyed fishing, football, and a good game of pool.  He was an avid gardener.  Each year he and his brother, Jeff, would compete for the best tomatoes.  Most of all, Bill valued the company of his friends and family and loved cracking jokes.  He will be remembered for his kind heart, humor, and sincerity.

Besides his father, Bill was predeceased by his step father, Miles Weekes; his paternal grandparents, John and Margaret Davidson, his maternal grandparents, Robert and Beulah Stephenson and James Carroll.

Survivors include his loving wife of 23 years, Veronica Davidson of Queensbury; his mother, Deidra Weekes of Queensbury; his brothers, Jeffrey Davidson and his wife, Joanne, of Hudson Falls and Michael Davidson of Queensbury; his step children, Chris Smith and Nicole Hulse; his nieces, Chelsea Lemon and her husband, William, of New York and Melissa Davidson of Hudson Falls; his nephew, Lee Davidson of Fort Edward; and his adoring cat, Sammy.

Bill will be greatly missed by those who love him.

At his request, there will be no calling hours.

A private graveside service will be held in the spring.

Bill’s family wishes to thank Dr. Pillemer, Dr Cunningham, Donna Boss, and all the nurses and aides at Glens Falls Hospital’s T2 cancer unit for their superior care and kindness given to him during his illness.  Your encouragement, smiles and jokes comforted Bill every day.  Bill’s family also would like to thank High Peaks Hospice, especially Beth Hughes, for the wonderful care and support given to Bill and his family.  Special thanks to his nurse, Jeannie, whom Bill loved dearly.

Because of his love of animals, especially cats, donations in Bill’s memory may be made to the SPCA of Upstate New York, P.O. Box 171, Hudson Falls, NY  12839.
