HENRIETTA (HONEY) TERSLA ALLEN MORRIS

September 6, 1929 – January 4, 2019

Henrietta (Honey) TerSla Allen Morris passed into the arms of the Lord in the early morning hours of January 4th.   She was 89 years young. Known by many as “Honey”, Henrietta lived a full life of loving service marked by generosity of spirit and kindness toward all she knew.

Born September 6, 1929, Henrietta was the first of three daughters born to Henry and Frances (Schermerhorn) TerSla of Ballston Spa, NY. She attended a one-room school near their farm home at Harmony Corners on Peaceable Street. She proudly graduated from Ballston Spa High School with a Regents diploma. Henrietta was employed at the Excelsior Springs Hotel in Saratoga Springs, the Singer Shop in Glens Falls, in the law office of the GE in Schenectady.    In 1983 she moved to Florida and worked for Disney as a costumer and eventually became a CNA.

Times spent at “Allen’s Alley” on Schroon River remain cherished memories by all who ever visited, and especially for their six children.

She loved to sew and made everything from doll clothes to wedding gowns and upholstery. She mastered the traditional arts of knitting, embroidery, tatting and crochet. She loved making crafts and was very creative and artistic. She was also a talented cake decorator.  She knew how to garden and preserve.  Whether you were related or not, you were considered family and there was always a place for you at the table.

Above all else, her greatest pride was raising her six children to be kind and caring people.

She met and married Delos Morris in 1984 and together they worked his commercial fishing business along with utilizing her CNA training, she showered her clients with the same love and devotion that she poured out for her family

She always will be remembered for saying “you gotta do what you gotta do”.   She had boundless energy, an undeniable faith in God, a radiant belief in the goodness of others, capable and durable resilience, gentle kindness, and generosity of time and love. She is a rare gem who will be missed by all who know her as Mom, Grandma, Great-Grandma, Aunt Honey and friend.

Henrietta is predeceased by her parents Henry TerSla and Frances TerSla Gannon, her husband Delos Morris and the father of her children Raymond Allen.

She is lovingly survived by her 6 children:  Henry “Dinny” (Pat) of Argyle, Bill (Mary) of Texas, Donald (Anne) Gansevoort, Debbie (Dave) Perkins of Hudson Falls, Judy (David) Mackay of Malta, Jan (Dan Larrow) of SC.    Her Grandchildren:  Mike Zayachek (Janie Landry), Bethanie Zayachek (Rich Mulligan)          Joseph (Jeanette) Allen, Christine (Brian) Aiken, Bill (Dee) Allen, Patricia Allen, Jeffrey (Maria) Allen, Nick (Sara) Allen, Ben Allen (Carrie Pershyn), Rose (Ryan) Kobor, Mary Allen, Jennifer (Julian) Sciolla, Valerie (Justin) Chapman and Katherine Mackay (Matt Bennett), and 20 great grandchildren.   Her two sisters Barbara (John) Pickney of Ballston Spa and Dorothy (Frank) Costanzo of Galway and Florida.  Delos’ children:  Connie (Tom) Peeples of SC, Kathy Brayman and Rolf Morris of Florida and Jack Morris of NJ and their children and grandchildren.
