GLENS FALLS – Helen Rose Balfour, 84, of Glens Falls, passed away at St. Mary’s Hospital in Troy, after a long illness.
Helen was born on November 29, 1927, in Oklahoma.
For a time she served in the United States Army. Helen worked as a nurse’s aide with her sister, Lucy Steves, while they lived in Oklahoma.
She loved to watch classic television, including the Walton’s, Bonanza and Andy Griffin. Helen loved to bake and go to bingo.
In addition to her husband, Harold Balfour, she was predeceased by her sister, Lucy Burt, her son Joseph Cook and her dog, Pee Wee.
Helen is survived by her children, Denis Sherman, James Balfour, Sherman Skelly and Victor Steves and his wife, Margaret; many grandchildren; her sister in law, Betty Bushy; her special friend, Joseph Lee; and several close friends, Joan Smith, and George Rockwell; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call on Friday, December 7, 2012, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.
A graveside service will be conducted 9 a.m. on Saturday, at Griswold Cemetery in the town of Moreau.
