Guistina Marie McCullen Rathbun

HAMPTON – Guistina Marie McCullen Rathbun, age 34, of Hamton, NY passed away as a result of an automobile accident on June16, 2024. Guistina Marie was born on July 4, 1989 at Glens Falls Hospital. She graduated from Hartford Central School in 2007. She attended the College of St. Rose and graduated in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in biological science. She then went on to attend the University of Castleton where she graduated from the school of nursing in 2015.

In August of 2015, she went to work at the Rutland Regional Medical center as a registered nurse. She loved being a nurse and all of the people she worked with.

Growing up, Guistina was a wonderful little girl and she blossomed into an amazing, caring person, mom and nurse. She then gave birth to a very special little boy, Eli Michael. She truly cherished him and was a perfect loving mother. He loves his mother so. Being autistic, Eli is non-verbal. The only word he has spoken was “Mama”. It made her so happy.

Left to cherish her memory is her son, Eli; her husband, Thorn Rathbun; her parents, Wanda and Larry McCullen; and in-laws, Debbie and Alwyn Winkler and many others too numerous to mention here. She was predeceased by her God Son, John Francis.

Guistina leaves a hole that can never be filled. We truly appreciate all of the kind words, thoughts and prayers that have been offered. So many lives will never be the same after her passing. We can only hope that her legacy will be one of love. She will always be the light of our life. May God bless her and comfort her.

Friends may call from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls. A service will follow at 4:00 pm at the funeral home.

There is no sorrow as deep and long lasting, under the firmament, as the death of a loved one before her time. So it is with Guistina and her late Godson, John Francis. She was, as was he, one of the earth’s golden children: loving, wise and as beautiful inside as out.
    We share in your pain.

The words “she leaves a hole that will never be filled” couldn’t be truer. I was lucky to know her, love her, and work with her as a nurse. She was a wonderful, caring, giving person and the love for her son was limitless!! I will miss our Snapchat photos and chats so much Gus. My mind and heart are in shock and mourning. Prayers and sincerest condolences to your mom and Dad (who you adored) and especially little Eli, the love of your life, and for all your family who loved you so. I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers forever, as I pray also for all your work family, Ty’s family and friends who loved you. Heaven gained an angel, but all of us lost one. Love you Gus. ❤️
