SARATOGA SPRINGS – Grace Richards, 90, of Saratoga Springs, went into the arms of the Lord on Monday, June 5, 2017.
Born on November 13, 1926, in Fort Edward, she was the daughter of the late Guy and Etta (Milligan) Lansing.
She was married for several years to Robert Richards, before he passed away on April 19, 1994.
Grace and her husband ran a family farm until 1963, at that time they build Richard’s Diner on Route 4, south of Fort Edward. After retiring, from the diner, Grace and Robert retired to Dade City Florida, where they enjoyed 13 wonderful years. At that time they moved back to this area to be near family.
She was an avid bowler and received many bowling trophies. Grace was a member of St. Andrew’s Church in South Glens Falls. At St. Andrew’s Church, she helped create an after-school program for “Latch Key Kids” called “The Net”. She was also very proud to have participated for many years in the annual Christmas parade in helping create the church floats.
Grace was an avid Yankee fan, even though her husband was a Met’s fan. Her grandchildren were the center of her life. She cherished spending time with them, listening to their stories and sharing her stories with them.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her children, Leon Richards and Faye Jacobs and her brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her children, Carol Biggie and her husband, Daniel of Saratoga Springs, Harold “Skip” Moore of Connecticut, Bella Harrington of Glens Falls and Carroll Kelly and her husband, Gill of North Carolina; her daughter in law, Donna Richards of Argyle; her grandchildren, Jeff, Mark and Scott Richards, Kellie Stewart, Corina Stampalia, Tammy Horan, Daniel Biggie, II, and John Hodges; 18 great grandchildren; and five great, great grandchildren; one sister, Carolyn O’Sick of Orlando, FL and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial services will be 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 17, 2017, at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in South Glens Falls, with Rev. Joyce Fiore, pastor, officiating.
Burial will be 11 a.m. on Monday, June 19, 2017, at Pine View Cemetery in the town of Queensbury.
The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Salvation Army, 37 Broad Street, Glens Falls, NY 12801.
