Gordon J. Single

STUART, FLORIDA – Gordon J. Single, 91, formally of Hudson Falls, passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at Glens Falls Hospital following a short illness.

Born November 7, 1932, in Montreal, Canada, he was the son of the late William and Rebecca (McAlpine) Single. 

Gordon married the love of his life, Eva Patricia Redman in Montreal and were together for sixty years. He was employed at Kamyr in Glens Falls as an Electrical Engineering Manager and retired in 1996 after 31 years of dedicated service.

Gordon loved to go boating. Throughout his life he happily owned the “Single Pleasure I” and the “Single Pleasure II”. At any given time, he could be found at the dock tinkering with his boat. Gordon was a past Commodore of the Coconut Point Yacht Club. He also loved to travel with his late wife, Eva. Gordon was an avid tailgater and diehard fan of Florida State University.

In addition to his parents, he is also predeceased by his wife, Eva (Redman) Single and his sister, Margaret (Single) Duval.

Survivors include his sons, Gordon W. Single, MD (Karen) (formally of Glens Falls) of Port St. Lucie, FL and Stephen Single (Beth) of Kattskill Bay; his grandchildren, Gordon Single (Shelbi), Kathryn Elliott (Ben), Maj. Matthew Single (Katrina), Michael Single (Charlee), and Colleen Single. Gordon is also survived by five great grandchildren, and his brother, Leslie Single (Jean) of Halifax, Nova Scotia, and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, from 3pm to 5pm at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

A funeral service will begin at 5pm, immediately following calling hours on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at the funeral home.

    My husband (Kenny) and I loved Gordon. We shared many good times and sad times. We so enjoyed his spirit and his good humor. He will be missed ❤️
