HUDSON FALLS and PAWLETT, VT – Emma E. (MacDonald) Parsons, 94, most recently of Johnsburg, went to be with her Lord, on Monday, November 24, 2014.
Born on February 12, 1920, in Chestertown, she was the oldest child of the late Howard and Katherine (Hill) Underwood.
Emma was a graduate of Hudson Falls High School.
On March 22, 1940, she married Leslie MacDonald. He passed away on August 6, 1983, after 43 years of marriage. On January 9, 1988, she married Edward Parsons, Jr.; he passed away in October of 1999.
Emma was a Washington County Home Health Aide for 15 years and was a member of the American Bell Association. Her Christian faith was an important part of her life. She attended the Gospel Lighthouse Church and was a founding member of the Full Gospel Tabernacle, where she taught Sunday school for 35 years. Emma was also a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Association and attended the Granville Assembly of God Church. Since 2009, Emma has been attending Sodom Community Church in North Creek, to be with her family. She was a wonderful lady who not only put her church as the center of her life, she lived her faith. Emma could make friends everywhere, inside and outside the walls of a church. The other core of her life was her family. Emma felt so blessed to have the affection of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren. Her family loved her greatly and will miss her deeply, but they know she is with her Lord.
Emma was a part of the Wells, Vermont Senior Citizens and was an active member of the Gore Mountain Senior Citizens, where she was known as the “Sunshine Lady”.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was predeceased by her two sons, Raymond MacDonald and Douglas MacDonald and her infant daughter, Gloria MacDonald, her sister Katherine Tyminski, her brothers, Clarence, Charles, Phillip and Ralph Underwood.
She is survived by her children, Noreen Bennett (Edward) of Hadley, Allen MacDonald (Beverly)of Delaware, Kathleen Allen ( Ronald) of Johnsburg, Darrel MacDonald (Debbie) of Fort Edward, Lorna Outten (Byron) of Delaware and Candice Blake (Pat) of PA; her 26 grandchildren; her 51 plus great grandchildren; her 4 plus great, great grandchildren; her daughter in law, Beverly MacDonald of North Creek; her brothers, George Underwood and Ernest Underwood both of Hudson Falls, Harry Underwood of South Glens Falls and Leo Underwood of Coeymans Hallow; many nieces and nephews; and special sisters in law.
Friends may call on Friday from 10 to 12 Noon at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.
Funeral services will follow at 12 Noon on Friday at the funeral home, with her son in law, the Reverend Ronald N. Allen, pastor of the Sodom Community Church in North Creek, officiating.
Burial will be at a later date at Moss Street Cemetery in the town of Kingsbury.

Dear Lorna (and the Entire “MacDonald” family),
I want to share my sincere condolences & sadness at the loss of your mom. She was a true woman of faith. A dear, dear family friend for more years than I can count. I have so many memories of our shared childhood, with our mom’s shopping, picking berries and veggies which they then canned together. Our Sunday lunches…Friendship is a gift like little else and your mom (and you) has been a friend to our family for 50 or so years.
