Emily was a special friend to me, because she was a true friend to my mother, Vivienne Gifford. Em was the first friend Mom made at the Oaks when she moved there and she was lucky enough to live next door. During my visits to Mom over the years, I came to love Em as much as Mom did. Mom passed away in 2010 and during her last year or so, she needed close contact with people and Em was always there. The patience she showed with my Mom was extraordinary and it was obvious how much she cared. I have maintained my relationship with Em and visited when in the area as well as exchanging letters and cards. She was one of the most positive and loving people I have ever met- living her life with grace and devotion to God. I am extremely grateful to have been Em’s friend and will miss her gentle spirit and witty humor which was always present. To her entire family, who she often talked about with pride and joy, I extend my deepest sympathies. Emily is an individual who will be missed by everyone she knew because everyone she met was an instant friend. I picture her and Mom having tea and catching up, because they always had lots to talk about. God Bless.

40 years ago when we were new to the Glens Falls area “Mrs. Towne” watched our two small children a couple of days a week. Back then we didn’t know very many people but what we did know is that “Mrs. Towne” took excellent care of the kids. She would always come out to the car to greet us when we dropped the children off and they would be very happy and full of news about their day when we picked them up. Going to “Mrs. Townes” was a good thing!
My husband Jeff was Mrs. Towne tax accountant. I would go and pick up and drop off her taxes. I always enjoyed sitting down and talking to her. She was such a sweet lady. We always talked about my cats and spending time with her cat ‘Christmas’ who she cherished. Our deepest Sympathy goes out to her family.
I have warm memories of working with your dad at Sandy Hill in the late 60s. I was the mail boy and office floater summers while in college. Your mom and dad always treated me so kindly. I saw your dad and mom a lot between sandy Hill, helping him at Hartford Acres and their times calling at Carleton Funeral Home, where I worked for 35 years. People of their quality are always a delight to know. I’m sure mom will be missed.
