HUDSON FALLS – Edward L. Lowell, Sr., 86, of Denis Ave, passed away at his home, with his family by his side, on Tuesday, May 7, 2013.
Born on October 6, 1926, in Mexico, Maine, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Sadie (Fitzmorris) Lowell.
On September 15, 1945, he married Jane Rymkewicz at St. Mary’s Church in Glens Falls.
Edward worked for a number of local dairies starting at the young age of fourteen. He often talked about delivering milk in Hudson Falls with a horse drawn wagon. He then worked for Hercules Inc., later known as Ciba-Geigy Corp. from 1959, until his Retirement in 1985.
Edward loved his black Lab, Sparky. She was his faithful companion for over ten years. He was happiest when he was at his hunting camp in Stony Creek which he owned since 1959. He enjoyed hunting with his sons and visiting with all the neighbors and passer byers. Edward said the mountains and forest at camp reminded him of Rumford Maine, where he spent his younger childhood years.
In addition to his parents, Edward was predeceased by his brother, Henry Lowell, his sisters, Joanne Cross and Donna Kelleher and his son in law George J. Cooper, Jr.
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Jane Lowell of Hudson Falls; his children Jo-Ann Morton and her husband, Patrick of Hudson Falls, Phyllis Cooper of Hudson Falls, Edward L. Lowell, Jr. of Stony Creek and his companion, Jill Field, Daniel J. Lowell and his wife, Sharon Harris of Queensbury; his grandchildren, Patrick H. Morton, III and his wife, Nicki, Lisa A. Morton, Michael J. Morton and his wife, Sheila, Melissa A. Cooper, Edward L. Lowell, III., Linda Lowell, Daniel J. Lowell, II and Nathaniel Lowell; his great-grandchildren, Zachary Morton, Josh Morton, Dylan Morton, Jesse Morton and Cooper Henke; his siblings, Elaine Uhl and Bernard Lowell; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
There will be a private viewing at the convenience of the family.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. on Friday, May 10, 2013, at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.
The Rite of Committal will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.
