Edna Jean Sexton

Sexton, EdnaFORT ANN- Edna Jean Sexton, 72, currently of Fort Edward, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, June 9, 2018.

Born on June 30, 1945 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of Rita Porteous of Fort Edward and the late Roy A. Porteous.

She graduated from Fort Ann Central School.

Edna worked as a developmental aide at the Wilton Development Center.

She and her family resided in West Fort Ann for many years. Edna was a member of the West Fort Ann United Methodist Church, and the Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Post 574. She loved playing bingo, painting ceramics and selling Avon products.  Most of all, Edna loved spending time with her family.

In addition to her father, she was predeceased by her daughter, “Baby Angel”.

Survivors besides her mother, Rita Porteous of Fort Hudson Nursing Home include her children, John Sexton and his wife, Rhonda of Fort Ann, Roy P. Sexton and his wife, Michele of Glens Falls, Carla A Willard and her husband, Michael of Hudson Falls; her grandchildren, Robert Sexton, Kaela Fox and her husband, RJ Fox, Sarah Sexton, Sean Velazquez, Ryan Streeter, Kiersten Sexton, Allissa Garvin. Mikenzie Willard; her great grandchild, Kaelie Fox; her sisters, Judith Johnson and her husband, Carleton of Willsboro; Helen Edwards and her husband, John West of Fort Ann, Joyce Monahan of West Fort Ann, Eugenia Dragon and her husband, John of West Fort Ann, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on Thursday, June 14, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street, Hudson Falls, NY.

American Legion Post 574 Ladies Auxiliary will say prayers at 4 p.m. on Thursday.

Following calling hours, family and friends are invited to American Legion Post 574 on Pearl St. in Hudson Falls to share memories.

Burial will take place on Friday, at 11 a.m. at Union Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.

Special thanks to the staff of Tower 5 at Glens Falls Hospital, for your loving care. And another special thanks to Eugene Burch for all the help he gave Edna.
