HUDSON FALLS – Dorothy A. Keech, 84, of Helen Street, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2013, at the Glens Falls Hospital.
Born on April 1, 1929 in Rochester, Vermont, she was the daughter of the late George and Emma (Greene) Lovett.
On September 4, 1960, she married Raymond E. Keech at the Fort Edward Methodist Church. They have been married for 52 wonderful years.
Dorothy worked for WT Grants in Glens Falls from 1951- to 1974. She also cleaned houses for many families in the area. Dorothy was a life member of the VFW Auxiliary # 6196 of Queensbury and was a member of the Hudson Falls American Legion Auxiliary Post 574. She was a very active member of several camping clubs, including Wheel and Pitch, Busy Squaws and the Tomahawks.
Dorothy enjoyed family gatherings, bingo, fireworks, Christmas lights, playing rummy and jigsaw puzzles. She also loved to work on latch hock rugs, doing embroidery and making no sew blankets.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, George Lovett and Harold Lovett.
She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Raymond E. Keech of Hudson Falls; her daughter, Judy Gadrick and her husband, Eddie of Hudson Falls; her grandchildren, William Kirby, Jr. and his fiancé, Stacie Montalvo, Mechelle Gadrick, Samantha Ward and her husband, David and Susan Gadrick; her great grandchildren, Alexandra Morehouse, Chloe Morehouse and Logan Ward; her sister, Helen R. Pechtel; her brothers Ralph Lovett and Howard Lovett and his wife, Diane; her sisters in law, Madeline Edgerly, Emily Keech, Theresa Keech, Mildred LaBombard, Dorothy Jones and Marilyn Keech and her husband, Don; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.
Graveside Services will be 10:30 am, on Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at Gerald B.H. Solomon – Saratoga National Cemetery in the town of Stillwater.
Following the burial, at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, a reception to honor Dorothy’s life will be at the Hudson Falls American Legion Post 574 on Pearl Street in Hudson Falls.
The family would like to thank Dorothy’s caregivers, Bobbie Wood, the caregivers with Washington County and Visiting Nurses and the staff with Homeward Bound. They would also like to thank the Glens Falls Hospital Staff on Tower 2, especially, Rodney G. and Kat M. for their wonderful care of Dorothy in her final days with us.
