HUDSON FALLS – Donald R. Barrett, Jr., 66, of Watersedge in Hudson Falls, went into the arms of the Lord on Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at home with his family by his side, after a long illness.
Born on November 4, 1947, in Glens Falls, he was the son of Donald Barrett, Sr. of Fort Edward and the late Ruby (Cox) Barrett.
In 1965, Donald graduated from Hartford Central School and 37 years ago, he married his wife, Bettilou Fuller in Hudson Falls.
Donald was a painter is whole life. He also was an avid outdoors man who loved any kind of fishing and hunting. Donald was a marksman at turkey shoots. He also spent endless hours with his wife watching NASCAR. Donald rooted for every racer except, Jeff Gordon; only because that was whom his wife was cheering for. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Bettilou Barrett of Hudson Falls; his children, Brenda Barrett and her special friend, Ed Burns of Warrenburg, Beecher Fuller III and his special friend, Brenda Barrows of Lake Luzerne, Kimberly Jump and her husband, Frank of Queensbury and Donald Barrett and his wife, Amy of Corinth; his siblings, Donalynn Pratt and her husband, Preston of Maryland, Deborah Lewry and her husband, Thomas of Hudson Falls and Lynda Begley and her husband, Anthony of CT; his grandchildren, Stan and Sarah Walzack of Warrensburg, Keith Stewart, Kyle Jump, both of Queensbury, Samantha Augusta and her husband, Matt of Queensbury, Catlyn Hughes of Lake Luzerne, Dana Barrett and Thomas Barrett of Corinth, Beecher Fuller IV and his special friend, Tiffany and Brandon and Brianna Fuller of NC; his three great grandsons, Alexander and Jaxon Augusta of Queensbury and Brady Allen Fuller of NC; his sisters in law, Anna Mae Tifft of Hudson Falls, Harriet Strong and her husband, Thomas of Fort Edward, Gloria Cook and her husband, William of South Glens Falls and Shirley Casagrande and her husband, Robert of Fort Edward; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended relatives.
Friends may call on Sunday, from 1 to 3 at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St., in Hudson Falls.
A Time of Remembrance will be celebrated at 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be in the spring at Gansevoort Cemetery in the town of Northumberland.
The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff on 3 West at the Glens Falls Hospital, Colleen, Kenzie, Garrett, Laura and Debbie for the wonderful care given to Donald.
