QUEENSBURY – Clarence Joseph Dumas, Jr., 72, of Queensbury, went into the arms of the Lord on Thursday, September 17, 2020 at the Glens Falls Hospital.
Born on July 26, 1948 in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Clarence J. and Agnes (Shaw) Dumas, Sr.
On June 16, 1989, he married the love of his life, Carol Brandt. They were married and shared many wonderful memories for 31 years.
For several years, Clarence worked as a janitor at the Glens Falls Hospital. He loved his job and made many friends through his years of keeping the hospital clean.
His family and faith were the core of his life. Clarence along with his wife, Carol, was a faithful member of the Zion Episcopal Church in Hudson Falls.
Throughout his life, he loved watching old western movies, many of which stared John Wayne. Probably because of his affinity for western movies, Clarence was fascinated by every breed of horse. He also was talented at fixing cars. A hobby that was most appreciated by his family and friends. Those that knew Clarence would remember him with a coffee in one hand, a sweet desert in the other and a smile on his face.
He was very close to his sister, Judy Cook. Clarence’s family greatly appreciates the helping hand that she offered him throughout his life and especially during his last days. He ended his life surrounded by love and made comfortable by his compassionate sister.
Besides his parents, Clarence was predeceased by his sister, Phyllis Houghman and her husband, Bud, his brother, Wayne Dumas, Sr. and his brother in law, Glen Cook.
Survivors include his loving wife, Carol Dumas of Queensbury; his step- children, Amanda Mattison and her significant other, Ryan Shiel of Queensbury and Gwendolyn Mattison of Queensbury; his sister, Judy Cook and her significant other, David Howard of South Glens Falls; his nieces and nephews, Jodie Brean and her fiancé, Heath Kraemer, Todd Cook and his wife, Pam, Craig Cook and his wife, Penny, Joseph Houghman and his wife, Mary Lou, Christine Garrison, Lisa Lindstrand and her husband, Christopher, Wayne Dumas, Jr. and his wife Leslie and Tammy Mahan; his goddaughter Roxy Smith and her significant other, Rob Beckwith and their family; and several cousins.
