HUDSON FALLS & ST.PETERSBURG, FL – Charles L. Goodsell, 61, of St. Petersburg, FL and formerly of Hudson Falls, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 10, 2014 at Northside Hospital in St. Petersburg, FL.
Born in Glens Falls, on September 21, 1952, he was the son of the late Robert L. Goodsell and Verna (Gray) Goodsell.
Charles attended Hudson Falls High School, where he was an avid track runner. He traveled to Florida to follow his dream of being a cook, and for 40 years, he made his home there. Charles developed many friendships and close ties to the community while living in the St. Petersburg area. For over 10 years, he was employed as a cook in the Café, in the St. Petersburg Criminal Justice Center Courthouse.
Charles loved dining out, the horse and dog tracks, and while in New York he enjoyed visiting the OTB. Charles loved the thrill of gambling. He was a hard worker and loved coming home for family gatherings. One of his favorite times was the annual 4th of July gathering. People loved him as he had a great sense of humor. Charles deeply loved his mother, and played an important role in his younger sibling’s lives.
Besides his parents, Charles was predeceased by his brother, Donald Goodsell, and his sister, Linda Goodsell-Webb.
Survivors include his siblings, David Goodsell of Glens Falls, Ronald Goodsell of Hartford, Judy Wilson of Glens Falls, Robert Goodsell of Queensbury, Nanette Goodsell of Hudson Falls; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; great nieces and nephews; aunts and uncles.
A local memorial service will be held in the spring at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street, Hudson Falls
There will also be a memorial service in St. Petersburg area that will be announced in the spring.
Charles will be laid to rest with his mother in Moss Street Cemetery in the town of Kingsbury.
The family would like to thank all of the first responders at the Criminal Justice Center Courthouse, especially Corporal Ward for rushing to his aide on Monday morning.
