Nancy A. Newton

SOUTH GLENS FALLS – Nancy A. Newton, 83, formerly of Terry Drive in South Glens Falls, passed away on Monday, December 3, 2018 at the Wesley Health Care Facility in Saratoga Springs.

Born on June 14, 1935 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Elleston and Ina (Leroux) Gray.

In 1953, Nancy graduated from Hudson Falls High School and soon after began her working career.  At one time, Nancy was employed at Western Union and at Kay-Bee Toy and Hobby Shop for several years.  Later in life she was employed as an Administrative Assistant for Adirondack Community College.

On May 19, 1956 she married John E. Newton.  They have been married 62 wonderful years, before her passing.

Those left to mourn her loss, include her husband, John Newton of South Glens Falls; her two loving sons, Thomas Newton of Woodstock, Georgia and Steven Newton of South Glens Falls; five grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and her sister, Karen Partington and her husband, Robert of Connecticut.

The family would like to thank the staff at Wesley Health Care Facility for the wonderful care provided to Nancy through the years.

Graveside Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 7, at Union Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.

The family suggests that memorial donations in Nancy’s name be made to the Wesley Health Care Facility, 131 Lawrence Street, Saratoga Springs, NY  12866.

Arrangements are under the care of Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street, Hudson Falls, NY.

 

 

Vonda L. (Diffee) Lance

HUDSON FALLS- Vonda L. (Diffee) Lance, 74, of Hudson Falls, passed away on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at Glens Falls Hospital.

Born on February 26, 1944 in Granville, she was the daughter of the late John and Velva (Richards) Diffee.

Vonda had a wonderful marriage with her late husband, Robert Lance.

She enjoyed motorcycle rides, Americade and the camp in Lake George with her husband. She also enjoyed working around her yard and spending time with her dog, Shilo.

Besides her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by her sisters, Jacquelyn Woodard, Darleen Holmes and Lauren Hart; her brothers, John Diffee and Darl Diffee; her brothers-in-law, Paul Hayes and Albert Hart; her nephews, Mark Diffee, Audie Diffee, Jr., Justin Diffee and Eli; and her niece, Deborah Rossi.

Left to cherish her memory are her stepson, Robert Lance, Jr.; her grandson, Brian Lance; her siblings, Gwendolyn Hayes of Granville, Clark Diffee and his wife, Anna of Granville, Ronald Diffee and his wife, Jacquelyn of Glens Falls, Audie Diffee and his wife, Patricia of Hudson Falls, Darcy LaPlant and her husband, Robert of Hudson Falls, Joreen VanLint and her husband, Gordon of Hartford, Doreen Benard and and her companion, Gurney Bennett of Hudson Falls; several nieces, nephews and one very special nephew, Leonard Harder, Jr.

At Vonda’s request there will be no calling hours.

Eleanor M. (Johnson) Harris

QUEENSBURY – Eleanor M. (Johnson) Harris, 96, went to be with the Lord on November 9, 2018.

Born September 1, 1922, in Johnsburg, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Edna (Hyde) Johnson.

Eleanor graduated from Hudson Falls High School in 1940, and in 1943 she married Clarence Palmer in South Glens Falls.  Her husband was killed overseas during World War II.

On August 4, 1946 she married George A. Harris Jr.  Her desire was to be a homemaker.  After the children were in school, she worked in the Queensbury Middle School Cafeteria until her retirement. Eleanor loved her job. She was someone who liked keeping busy and she enjoyed spending time around the children.

George and Eleanor brought up his younger brother, Thomas, who was included in the family after the death of his father.  They also helped to raise their grandson, Robbie.

Her life was spent caring for her family and helping neighbors.  Eleanor enjoyed cooking and baking with her granddaughters, teaching them her secret recipes and techniques.  She loved to crochet and shared her expertise by making crib blankets and hot pads for many family members and friends.  Eleanor loved spending time with her special friends, including those in the nursing home, The Pines. She would visit them weekly with her close friend, Valerie Lockhart.  When Eleanor was able, she was involved in the work of the former Glens Falls Free Methodist Church and the Warrensburg Free Methodist Church, including Bible study and music.

Besides her parents, Eleanor was predeceased by her husbands, Clarence Palmer and George A. Harris Jr.; a daughter, Thelma J Sherman; a son, George A. Harris; and grandson, Robbie Harris.

Survivors include her three daughters, Marge Dresser- Cummings and her husband, Jay of Queensbury, Marie Williams of Hadley, Ruth Walker and her husband, Dale of Queensbury; one son, Virgil Harris and his wife, Sheila of Queensbury; she also has grandchildren, namely, Tracy Manell, Amy Zeh, Warren Lunt, George Harris, Julia Smith, Rakel Ball, Kirsten Olden, Adam and Michelle Walker; and several great grandchildren.

Her family would like to thank the staff and friends at the Warren Center Nursing Home for their wonderful care and support.

Friends may call from 2 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, December 9, 2018, at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street, in Hudson Falls, New York.

Funeral service will follow the calling hours at 3 p.m. on Sunday, December 9, 2018, at the funeral home, with the Reverend Nancy Burrows of the Warrensburg Free Methodist Church, officiating.

Graveside services will be private and held at a later date.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Warrensburg Free Methodist Church, 250 River Street, Warrensburg, New York 12885, or to the American Cancer Society, 1 Penny Lane, Latham, New York 12110.

Daniel Crandall, Sr.

GLENS FALLS- Daniel Crandall, Sr.  75, passed away on Thursday, November 29, 2018, at his home, in Glens Falls, with his family by his side.

Born on August 23, 1943, in Granville, he was the son of Florence (Hurley) Crandall and the late Howard W. Crandall.

Daniel was a 1962 graduate of Argyle High School. Following graduation, he began his working life as a veterinarian assistant at the Adirondack Animal Hospital in Queensbury. He then moved to Hannaford Supermarket, where he worked as a store clerk. Daniel’s last place of employment was at Irving Tissue, where he labored as a janitor.

On September 12, 1964, Daniel married Betty Barker at the Methodist Church in Granville.  They shared over 54 years together, creating many happy memories.

Daniel was an active church member of Pine Knolls Alliance Church and spent a lot of time, together with Betty, serving his spiritual community in a variety of ways.  He also loved hunting, fishing, watching and playing numerous sports. But most of all his family was the center of his life.

In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his brother, Arthur Crandall, his sister, Carolyn Wells and his sister-in-law, Patricia Collins.

Survivors include his mother, Florence Crandall of Granville, his wife, Betty of Glens Falls, his two sons, Daniel Crandall Jr. and his wife, Connie of South Glens Falls, Raymond Crandall and his wife, Lisa of Hudson Falls; his three sisters, Joan Brown and her husband, Norman of South Glens Falls, Joyce Wilcox and her husband, Wayne of Adamsville, Eleanor Johnson and her husband, Richard of Adirondack; his brother-in-law Robert Gillman of Glens Falls; his sisters-in-law, Lorraine Tisinger of Virginia, and Lois Flewelling of South Glens Falls; his three grandchildren, Courtney (Crandall) Duckett and her husband, Bryant, Katrina (Crandall) Weaver and her husband, Ben and Derrick Crandall; his two great grandchildren, Brayden Crandall and Austin Duckett; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on Tuesday, December 4, 2018, from 5 to 7 p.m., at Pine Knolls Alliance Church, 614 Gansevoort Rd, South Glens Falls, NY 12803.

Memorial services will be conducted on Wednesday, at 11 a.m. at the church.

Burial will be at the Southside Cemetery in South Glens Falls at the convenience of the family.

The family suggests that memorial donations be made in Daniel’s name to either the Pine Knolls Alliance Church, 614 Gansevoort Road, South Glens Falls, NY 12803 or to the C.R. Wood Cancer Center, 102 Park Street, Glens Falls, NY 12839.

Scott R. Wells

HUDSON FALLS – Scott Richard Wells, 57, passed away on November 27, surrounded by family after battling cancer for many years.

He was born on September 2, 1961 in Glens Falls to Ruth G. Wells and the late Richard Wells.

Scott graduated from Hudson Falls High School in 1980 and Adirondack Community College in 1981 with a certificate in radio broadcasting.

As a young man, Scott was a volunteer for Hudson Falls Fire Company. He also worked as an electrician under his very special “father”-in-law Raymond Sherlock who passed away in December 2014. In 1988, he joined the Washington County Sheriff’s Office as a corrections officer. Over the course of 23 years of service he earned the title of First Sergeant and retired as the Administrative Assistant.

Upon his retirement, he enjoyed spending time at his summer camp in Warrensburg with his wife, Debbie, and their close friends. Throughout his life he vacationed in Maine by the ocean which was one of his favorite places to be and home to many happy memories.

In addition to his father he was also pre-deceased by his uncle, Brent Wells; his grandparents Edward Guy and Alice Gunn and Clifford and Vera Wells. He was also pre-deceased by his friend of many years, Dan Bemis.

His memory will be carried on by his wife of 15 years, Debra Wells; his children Abigail M. Wells (Charles Camp) of Portland, Maine and Brian S. Wells (Tasha Charlton) of Lake George; his mother, Ruth G. Wells of Hudson Falls; his sister Laurie Lockhart (Art Lockhart) of Queensbury as well as their two children, Ben and Megan Lockhart. He is also survived by his step-son Nathan Hicks (Katherine) and their children of Queensbury and Timothy Hicks (Amber) and their son of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Scott is also survived by his mother-in-law Nancy Donohue of Hudson Falls, and all of Debbie’s family, as well as his many friends including Chuck Scally Sr., Chuck Scally Jr., Ben and Joann Hayes, and Jeff Benson.

The Wells family would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to the CR Wood Cancer Center at Glens Falls Hospital, especially Dr. Stoutenburg and Rebecca Freligh. As well as, Vicki Goodspeed, RN of High Peaks Hospice.

Calling hours will be on Sunday, December 2, 2018, from 12 to 2 p.m. at Carleton’s Funeral Home, 68 Main Street, Hudson Falls.

The memorial services will be conducted immediately after calling hours at 2 p.m. with Pastor William Puckey of South Glens Falls United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, Scott would like donations sent to the Double H Ranch, 7 Hidden Valley Rd, Lake Luzerne, NY 12846, for children with serious illnesses.

Olive M. McClellan

SOUTH GLENS FALLS – Olive Mae McClellan, 93, of South Glens Falls, passed away on Tuesday, November 13, 2018, at the Glens Falls Hospital.

Born on July 23, 1925, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late W. Kenyon and L. Beatrice (Denis) Briggs.

Olive was a graduate of Hudson Falls High School.  Following high school, she graduated from Morrisville Agricultural and Technical School and earned her bachelors from State University of NY of Oneonta.

On January 1. 1948, Olive married Elmer McClellan, he passed away in 1958.

She lived in Speculator for 10 years and Colebrook for 18 years before moving to South Glens Falls in 1970.

Olive was a social worker for many years at Eden Park Nursing Center, now known as the Pines.

She enjoyed playing pinochle, dancing at Dick Ladd with her late partner, Angelo Aurelia and attending the meal sites in Hudson Falls, Glens Falls and Moreau.

She was an active communicant of St. Michael the Archangel Church in South Glens Falls, where she was a member of the Rosary Alter Society, she was an Extra Ordinary Minister and a first-grade religious education teacher.  Olive also was a literacy volunteer, a member of the Business of Professional Women’s Club, an associate member of the Post Stroke of Glens Falls, a member of AARP, a member of the Utica Dog training Club and the Utica Kennel Club.  She also was involved in the North East New York Health Systems Agency and a member of the Board of Directors, Nomination Committee and Administrator and personal volunteer of the Wilton Developmental Center.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Elmer McClellan.

She is survived by her three sons, Barton Joseph McClellan of Argyle, J. Arthur McClellan of Utica and Ross Allen McClellan; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 am on Monday, April 22, 2019, at St. Michael the Archangel Church in South Glens Falls.

The Rite of Committal will be at Union Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.

The family as asked that memorial donations be sent to the St. Michael the Archangel Church, 80 Saratoga Avenue, South Glens Falls, NY 12803.

Grace A. LaSarso

HUDSON FALLS- Grace A. LaSarso, 95, a long time resident of Parry Street, gained her Angel Wings on Friday, November 23, 2018. at Fort Hudson Nursing Home.

Born on August 7, 1923, in Tupper Lake, NY, she was the seventh child of the late Ernest and Mary (Bishop) Root.

On December 1, 1945, she married Angelo E. LaSarso, at St.  Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls and They had 63 Wonderful Years of Marriage.

After 24 years of employment, she retired from Steinbach’s of Queensbury, in 1991.

Our “Mother Amazing Grace” was an inspiration to many cancer patients because of her strength battling breast cancer on two different occasions as she was a 50-year survivor.

In addition to being a communicant of St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls, She was a member of the Rosary Altar Society and the St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Choir. Grace’s Major Enjoyment was being with Her Children, Grandchildren and Great- Grandchildren, who Adored Her! Last but, not least, She loved watching the New York Yankees together with her husband, Angelo.

Her other interests included shopping for her family, her religious faith, reading, music, bingo and collecting Boyd Bears.

In addition to Her Parents and Husband, Angelo, Grace was predeceased by her Ten Root brothers, Francis, Clarence, Dennis, Donald, Ernest, Maurice, William, Lawrence, Kenneth and Thomas; and her Seven sisters, Margaret Sullivan, Patricia Root, Eleanor Rickborn, Catherine Holley, Elizabeth Leroux, Noreen Conley and Colleen Gerouard; and her son-in-law, John W. Thompson.

Left to cherish Her Memory are Her two daughters, Gail Marie LaSarso Holleran and her husband, Michael of Lakeland, Florida and Carol Ann Thompson of Queensbury; one son, Timothy J. LaSarso and his wife, Melanie of Hudson Falls; 9 beautiful Grandchildren, Sara Grace Lawhon (Mike) Ryan Barlow (Lindsey), Bethanie Crawford (Ashanni), Courtney Bagley (Eric), Ellen Barlow (Joe), Jessica Palange (John), Tyler Thompson (Meghan), Nicholas LaSarso (Julie)  and Timothy LaSarso, Jr.; 18 Beloved Great Grandchildren, Kearstin, Madison, Gavin, Gracie, Brody, Jaxon, Colson, Reece, Mia, Sofia, Lanie, Wyatt, Linkon, Brayden, Logan, Charlotte, Cole and Spencer; 5 Sister-in-Laws, Irene, Rita, Micheline, Linda and Margaret; and many special nieces and nephews.

A Special Thank You to all the wonderful staff at Fort Hudson for their loving care that was provided for the past 6 years. Grace greatly appreciated the love and friendship from All who she interacted with in her day.

Jeanine N. Matthews

FORT EDWARD- Jeanine N. Matthews, 84, a long-time resident of Fort Edward, passed away on Thursday November 22, 2018, at the Warren Center in Queensbury.

Born on March 21, 1934, at home in Hudson Falls, she was the daughter of the late William and Melvina (Manell) Mattison.

In 1973, she and her sisters, all received their GED’s.

Her husband, Guy Matthews passed away on October 8, 2001.

She worked as a nurse’s aide at Fort Hudson Nursing Home, Pleasant Valley Infirmary and retired from West Mountain Infirmary.

Jeanine enjoyed ceramics, painting and caring for her plants and flowers. She was a member of the Master Gardeners for many years.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by several brothers, sisters and a daughter, Ivy.

Survivors include her seven children, Elizabeth Randolph and her husband, Richard, Rosalie Thompson and her husband, Tom, Kathryn Quarters, Edwin Quarters and his companion, Kathy Gitto, Aarron Quarters,  Cindy Vanterpool and her husband, Don, Stephen Matthews and his wife, Candy;  several grandchildren and great grandchildren; her siblings, William Mattison, Marilyn Phillips and Ellis Mattison and his wife, Joyce; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on Sunday November 25, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street, Hudson Falls.

Graveside services will be held on Monday at 1 p.m. at Moss Street Cemetery in Hudson Falls.

Her family suggests that donations in Jeanine’s name be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Shirley June Dygert

Shirley June Dygert

November 26, 1935 – November 21, 2018

HUDSON FALLS – Shirley June Dygert, 82, passed away Wednesday November 21, 2018 at her home surrounded by family.

She was born November 26, 1935 in Amsterdam to the late Chester J. and Mildred M. (Tibbals) Dygert.

She grew up on a dairy farm in Canajoharie and imparted the strong work ethic and self-reliance she learned there to her children.  She graduated from Canajoharie High School in 1954.

She married Richard Leo Dygert on December 6, 1958 at Christ Methodist Church in Glens Falls, New York and settled in Hudson Falls where she and Richard would raise three daughters.  She worked for Arkell and Smith which later became Chase Bag Company for 35 years, then worked for the Washington County Economic Opportunity Council until she retired in 2005.  She later looked back and wished that she had the opportunity to go college, and worked hard to provide that opportunity for her children.

Shirley loved being a mother and a grandmother and spending time with her extended family.  She adored and was incredibly proud of her grandchildren.  She was known as the fun aunt to her nieces and nephews.  She was unfailingly generous and reliable.  She loved knitting and was known for knitting and was known for knitting blankets, hats, dish clothes, and Christmas stockings for family and friends.  She was extremely proud of the hats and mittens which were known as Aunt Shirley’s Mittens that she knit for the students of the Cherry Valley-Springfield, Canajoharie, and Cobleskill-Richmondville school districts.  When growing up on the farm she rode horses, and her love of animals, continued throughout her life.  She loved music, reading and watching mysteries on television.  Among her family she was known for her delicious pumpkin rolls and ambrosia salad and she was a notoriously competitive but good-natured card player, and we will miss inevitably losing to her at holiday gatherings.  We are deeply saddened at her passing but are forever inspired by and grateful for her example of kindness, selflessness, strength of character, and love of family.

She was predeceased by her husband Richard, her daughter Terry (Michael) Rabine, and her sister Clara D. Hency.

Shirley is survived by her daughters Robin Dygert and Marla (James Burleigh) Dygert; her grandchildren Alex and Daniel Rabine and Madeline and Anna Burleigh; her sister Evelyn (the late Silas) Bowerman; her sister-in-law Barbara Bowman and her husband Jason Bowman; her dear friends Dorothy (the late Homer) Anthony, Lori and Jim Derrick, and George Richmond; and many nieces and nephews.

At Shirley’s request, there will be no calling hours.  There will be a private celebration of Shirley’s life. Internment of her remains will take place at the West Saint Johnsville Cemetery in the spring.

Gene R. Warner

SOUTH GLENS FALLS- Gene R. Warner, 39, of South Glens Falls, NY, died at home on November 20, 2018.

Born on October 11, 1979, he was the son of Nancy Warner and the late Chris E. Warner.

Gene enjoyed dirt bike riding, kayaking and playing his guitar.

In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his grandparents, Harold and Mary Warner and Roger Sellingham.

He is survived by his mother, Nancy Warner; his two brothers, Mark and Todd Cleavland; his sister, Kristine Warner-Brown; his grandmother, Beverly Sellingham; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

There will be no calling hours.

A graveside service will be held at a later date.

Lowell O. Greene

QUEENSBURY- Lowell O. Greene, 95, of Queensbury, went into the arms of the Lord on Thursday, November 8, 2018 at Haynes House of Hope in Granville.

Born on March 16, 1923 in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Lowell and Lena (Combs) Greene.

Following high school, Lowell enlisted in the United States Marines, where he valiantly served our country during World War II, from 1942 to 1946.

In 1943, while still in the service, during a four-day leave, Lowell married the love of his life, Beulah Wilcox.

After his discharge, Lowell worked as an electrician. He was first employed at Combs Electric in Glens Falls and later at C.R. Bard in Queensbury. Lowell retired from there in 1988.

Faith was very important to Lowell. He served as a Deacon in the Church.  He was a founder of the Faith Bible Baptist Church in Queensbury. Lowell also taught Sunday School for over 25 years at the Hallmark Nursing Home in Glens Falls.

Lowell was father to seven children, whom he adored and who loved him back fiercely. There wasn’t a job at home Lowell couldn’t do. He built his own house from the basement up.  Lowell passed his talents and interests onto his children, teaching them to fix things, to love each other and to love God.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters, Bertha Ross and Gertrude DeVol.

Survivors include his loving wife of 75 years, Beulah Greene of Queensbury; his seven children, Gary Lowell Greene (Carol) of West Winfield, NY, Sharon Brown (Daniel) of Hudson Falls, Stephen Greene (Sandra) of Queensbury, Karen Baker (George III) of Sumter, SC, Pamela Tucker (Bruce) of Fort Ann, Deborah McKinney of Queensbury and Ronald Greene of Queensbury; his 14 grandchildren, Kathy VanWierren, Kristopher Greene, Julie Jones Daniel Brown, Jr., Joseph Brown, Theresa Murray, Wendy Cameron, Jason Greene, George Baker IV, Jeremy Baker, Krystal Tucker, Joshua Tucker, Sarah Lambert, Alisha Northrup; 26 great grandchildren, five great  great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2018, from 10 am to 12 Noon at the Faith Bible Baptist Church, 62 Ogden Road in Queensbury.

Funeral services will take place at 12 noon, Tuesday (following the calling hours at the church with Pastor Rick Yancy officiating.

Following the services, Lowell will be buried at the Pine View Cemetery in Queensbury with full military honors.

Joan M. Caruso

KINGSBURY – Joan M. (Bardin) Caruso, 88, of Kingsbury, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at the Fort Hudson Health Care Facility in Fort Edward.

Born on January 17, 1930, in South Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Arthur L. and Bernice (Whitford) Bardin.

In 1947, she graduated from Hudson Falls High School and two years later, on July 17, 1949, Joan married the love of her life, Jerry W. Caruso, Sr., at St. Joseph’s Church in Fort Edward.  Jerry passed away on February 8, 2015, after 66 wonderful years.

Along with her husband, she owned and operated Julie’s Delicatessen, Jerry’s Restaurant and Delicatessen, where she was a bookkeeper and the Hawkeye Restaurant, where she was the hostess, all formerly in Lake George.  

Joan was a communicant of St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls and a member of the Lake George American Legion Auxiliary Post 374.

Throughout her life, Joan enjoyed tending to her gardens and baking for her family.  She was a loving wife, mother, adoring grandmother and great grandmother and she loved spending time with all of them.  Since the 1950’s, Joan has been an avid Yankee fan and more recently, her favorite player was Derek Jeter.

Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her two brothers, Arthur F. Bardin, who died in 1964 and Benjamin K. Bardin, who died in 1966.

Survivors include her children, Jerry W. Caruso, Jr and his wife, Jolene of Kingsbury, Andrew J. Caruso and his wife, Linda of Lake George, Michael S. Caruso and his wife, Maureen of Saratoga Springs and Bernice Waterston and her husband, Jason of Queensbury; her grandchildren, Milo Caruso and his wife, Sarah, Michael Yole and his wife, Allyssa, Ashley Yole and Arielle Maille; her great grandchildren, Audrie Caruso, Zachary Caruso, Alivia Brummagyn, Owen Yole and Evelynn Joan Yole; her sister, Ann Goodrich; her sister in law, Patricia Bardin; and several nieces, nephews,  cousins, step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.

Friends may call on Sunday from 1 to 4 P.M. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 A.M. on Monday, November 12, 2018 at St. Mary’s/ St. Paul’s Church, on the park in Hudson Falls.

The Rite of Committal will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.

The family extends a special thanks to the staff on A Wing at Fort Hudson Health Care Facility for the wonderful care and compassion given to Joan and her family.

Mark Novotny

HUDSON FALLS – Mark Novotny, 54, of Dalton Avenue, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Sunday, November 4, 2018.

Born on February 10, 1964 in Nutley, NJ, he was the son of William Novotny and the late Patricia (Hollenbeck) Novotny.

Mark was the soulmate of Janice Cardinale and together they shared 30 wonderful years.   He played a major role in his family’s life.  Along with Janice, Mark raised his step-children, Jason, Kristina, Justin and his grandchildren and enjoyed spending special time with them.   He thought of them as a father and cherished being a part in their lives.   

Mark was a skilled auto mechanic, who could fix any car.   At one time, he owned his own business, Mark’s Auto Haus on Dix Avenue in Hudson Falls and after, worked for several area dealerships, most recently Ringers Car Country.

He had a magnetic personality that made people laugh and feel important.  Mark always brought out the best of everyone and could brighten up the lives of his family, friends and even strangers.

He enjoyed riding his Harley and made many motorcycle friends throughout the years.

Survivors include his loving partner, Janice Cardinale of Hudson Falls; his son, John Novotny; his father, William Novotny Jr; his stepchildren, Jason Cardinale, Kristina Annis and her wife, Stephanie and Justin Cardinale; his grandchildren, Hunter Mullen, Stella Mullen and Spencer Annis; his two step mothers, Nancy Novotny and Gloria Novotny; his brothers, William Novotny III, Ralph James Novotny, Greg Novotny and Christopher Novotny; his sisters, Patricia Burke, Cindi Novotny, Donna Keirsted and Alicia Hollenbeck; his step brother, Frankie Parslow; his  step sister, Susan Parslow; his aunt,  Anci Dwyer; his three special friends; Scott Lundgren, Scott Seeley and Joe Linenhan; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.  

Friends may call on Friday, November 9, 2018 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Prayers will be offered following the calling hours on Friday.

The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the charity of one’s choice.
