Carol Ann (Lakeman) Paradis

ParadisHUDSON FALLS & JONESPORT, ME- Carol Ann (Lakeman) Paradis, 70, resident of Kingsbury, passed away Saturday, June 07, 2014 at Glens Falls Hospital with her devoted family standing by of a massive heart attack.

Born October 13, 1943 in Jonesport, Maine, she was the daughter of the late Anna Carver Lakeman. She was predeceased by her grandparents who helped raise her, Willard and Ethel Carver.

Professionally, Carol graduated from Jonesport High School in 1961 and went on to Salem Massachusetts where she earned her LPN certification. She worked for Dr. Edmunds, ENT in Glens Falls and went on to earn her RN at Adirondack Community College in 1981. She then worked 32 years at Glens Falls Hospital in the Operating Room from where she retired. Always up at the crack of dawn, on call and always devoted.

Carol married James J. Paradis Jr. in 1965. They spent 48 inseparable years together, going to camp in Warrensburg with their dog “Graca”, visiting family in Maine, cruising around the world, enjoying one another’s company and taking care of each other. In her down time she enjoyed reading, cross-word puzzles and knitting… for everyone. Those near and dear to her always got a homemade hat or dishcloth on holidays and she even donated numerous back home to her local church, Sawyer Memorial Congregational so they could raise funds.

Carol is survived by her devoted husband James J. Paradis Jr., and her loving dog Gracie, one brother, Charles Lakeman and wife Sharon of Maine and their children, Stephanie, Cherie, Michelle, Stacey and Kevin and their families, Her In-laws Bill and Polly Marchese whom she lived across the road from for 40 years and spent many good times with, her sister-in-law Connie Chandler and her children Wendy, Becky, Terri, Amy and Abby and their families, her cousins Karleen Hart, Elaine and (Dwayne) Brown, Clifford Johnson, Vicki Johnson, Larry Plumber, Clyde Samuelson, Esther Savar, and Harlan Samuelson, her uncles Byron Carver and Willard (Greta) Carver Jr.

She held a special place in her heart for her Niece Nicole Marchese and wife Jody and their daughters, Meghan and Katharine, her nephew Daniel Marchese, nephew Shawn Johnson and wife Marie and their sons Shawn Jr. and Nathaniel James with whom she split her time between NY and ME.

She had numerous friends, relatives, colleagues… too many to mention but none forgotten including Nanci Bolen-Coons with whom she worked many years and still went to lunch with on occasion.

None who knew her would forget her meticulous manner or fashionable socks. She was one of a kind and will be missed more than words can ever express.

Heartfelt gratitude goes out to the staff of the Glens Falls Hospital, Emergency Care Center and Cardiac Cath Lab, whose valiant efforts were much appreciated.

Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Per Carol’s wishes, there will be no calling hours.

Randall James Jenks

JenksQUEENSBURY – Randall James Jenks, passed away unexpectedly, on June 2, 2014, at Albany Medical Center. He joins his two grandfathers and an uncle, most likely in spirited debates about sports and politics.

Randy was the son of James Jenks, of Queensbury, and Brenda Jenks, of Lake George. Besides his parents, he is survived by his sister, Robin, also of Queensbury, whom he adored, his maternal grandmother, Lena Coons, Queensbury, paternal grandmother Constance Jenks, Paradox, NY, aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was predeceased by his grandfathers, Ralph Chambers and Charles Jenks, and one uncle, Larry Chambers.

Randy was born August 17, 1971, and attended Queensbury schools. He lived in Queensbury his entire life and worked several jobs, most recently for several years as a cook at O’toole’s Restaurant, a job he enjoyed very much. He was an avid reader of books and blogs, and spent hours listening to various podcasts, staying abreast of current events. He loved all genres of music and was an ardent fan of all Boston sports teams.

In recent years, he became interested in computers and other electronic and digital devices. He was chosen to be a product tester for a major producer of data storage devices and took his task seriously, spending hours and hours searching for bugs and suggesting improvements. His attention to detail led to many improvements to devices now on the market – some of his proudest achievements.

Randy was somewhat private and solitary, yet upbeat and happy when among friends and family. He always could shrug off and laugh about any problems that arose. He looked forward to “game night” when he met for dinner with his Uncle Matt and “D and D” friends, followed by an evening of gaming, every Wednesday.

Words cannot express how much he will be missed, his life cut far too short.

There will be a memorial service on Saturday, June 14, 2014, at 1 pm at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Interment will be private, and at the convenience of the family.

Donations in Randy’s memory can be sent to the West Glens Falls Emergency Squad, whose volunteers are extraordinary.

Many thanks go to the Emergency Room at Glens Falls Hospital, and the Neurology Unit at Albany Med, especially the angels who are the nurses there.

Joseph David Benoit

Benoit, JosephHUDSON FALLS – Joseph David Benoit, 72, known to many as “Papa Joe,” of Harrison Avenue in Hudson Falls and Minerva, NY, passed away peacefully June 1st, 2014 in the mountain camp that he built with his own two strong and very kind hands. He passed away in the arms and loving embrace of his wife, family and children.

Born March, 2nd, 1942, in Glens Falls, he was the son of Norman Benoit and Lillian Bernard Benoit.

Papa Joe was a graduate of the Adirondack Mountains, a degree that eventually reached doctoral status.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, who was honorably discharged from the Army, where he worked in the motor pool and keeping the Soviets out of Fort Dix, NJ and Fort Drum, NY. He also rented a cabin on the shores of Lake Ontario with his commanding officer, where they spent most of the Cold War enjoying the beach, the open water and the contents of a cooler.

While in the service, he married his beloved wife of 47 years, Janet Everts Benoit, on April 1st, 1967. They met in Fort Drum, NY and raised five children together.

After his discharge from the service, he worked for Adirondack Glass for 37 years, where he excelled as a master glazier.

Joe’s proudest accomplishment in life, besides his children and deep friendships, was his mountain paradise, which he bought for $166 in 1967. Before his retirement, most weekends he brought his children to “camp.”   After his retirement, he spent most of his time on his mountain, where he fished and hunted and visited his neighbors. He was always welcome company on the “road” and the most generous of hosts.

Papa Joe had many hobbies. Welder, carpenter, mechanic, plumber and (to the terror of his children) a part-time roofer into his seventies. There was nothing he couldn’t fix. Upon his retirement from Adirondack Glass he was a professional tinkerer and putterer.   He loved to find “broken” snow blowers and weed wackers that his friends planned to throw out. He would take them off their hands, fix them, and then call them with the news that the machine was running perfectly, with much laughter exchanged with the two parties.  He was the finest of neighbors, to his friends on the mountain and his friends in Hudson Falls.  There was never a tool he wouldn’t lend to a friend, a driveway that went unplowed, a patch of grass left uncut, or a task left undone to help in the service of his friends and neighbors who he considered family.  He was the definition of  “great neighbor.”

Papa Joe was also an avid outdoorsman.  He went “into the woods” year round, either chasing whitetail through the hardwoods or launching his canoe into a peaceful pond in search of brook trout. He loved his time with his son-in-law, Barney Bellinger. They searched for peace and trout. Found both. He built two cabins for friends and family to enjoy year-round. The last twenty-five years of his life he was often beset by illness: mild heart attack(s), three shoulder surgeries, 22 year stage IV cancer survivor, two hip replacements, but that never stopped Papa Joe from smiling, or stopped him from carrying a canoe back or excusing himself from rugged hiking. He had a beautiful energy of endurance through pain, with a smile on his face and kindness in his heart.

In addition to his parents, Joe was predeceased by his brothers, Ronald, John and Charles, his dog Glory and his best friend Don Campbell.

He is survived by his wife Janet; his brothers Norman and Laurent; his sons, Mark Schneider and his fiancé, Evelyn of Queensbury, NY; Stephen White and his significant other Jeff of St. Petersburg, FL; Joel Benoit and his fiancé, Dorothy of Los Angeles, CA ; Jesse Benoit and his wife, Ashley of Cary, NC; daughter Susan Bellinger and her husband Barney of Mayfield, NY; his granddaughters, Holly Schneider Hughes, Heidi Schneider and Erin Bellinger, Kristina Wells; grandson Carter Joseph; one great granddaughter, Kenna and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his dog Scarlet, his cats Lily and Tilly, and 27 Hummingbirds.

Joe had many spiritual sons, including Scott Mason and Craig Richards, and a spiritual daughter and granddaughter in Denise and Leah Richards. He had  spiritual brothers in Joseph Bickford and Butch Barlow, as well as his beloved sister in law Kathy Barlow-who were all with him when he passed. He considered his close friends, Lee and Kathy Varney, to be family-and spent great years in his retirement in their good company.

A celebration of Joe’s life will be held on Friday, June 6th from 9-12 at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc.,  in Hudson Falls. There will be a short reading by the family followed by a funeral procession to Saratoga National Cemetery for a graveside service, followed by a 21-gun salute.  There will also be a private memorial at the convenience of the family on a beloved Adirondack Pond.

Graveside services, with full military honors, will take place at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Veteran’s Cemetery in the town of Stillwater.

Joe’s family would like to thank the neighbors and friends in Hudson Falls and on the mountain for all their help the last couple of months.  We would also like to thank Hospice for their extraordinary service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to High Peaks Hospice.   But besides a donation to hospice, Joe Benoit would have liked you to be kind to your neighbors. As he was so community-oriented towards his fellow man, that would be the highest honor in his name.

He was born on Paris Avenue in Hudson Falls. He walked the streets of Paris, France. He lived a great life between the dashes, and he had no regrets. He was the finest man. The finest father. The finest friend. We have faith he is walking the forest floor, or floating on a brook trout pond reunited with his best friend, Don Campbell. He was the last of his generation of mountain men to go, and somewhere he is reunited with them all.

Helen E. Rourke

RourkeHUDSON FALLS – Helen Etu Rourke, 91, a longtime resident of Hudson Falls, died Monday, June 2, 2014, following a brief illness.

Born on March 30, 1923, Helen was the daughter of William J. and Margaret (Campbell) Etu of Fort Edward.  She graduated from Fort Edward High School in 1940 as the valedictorian of her class.  She went on to earn her 3-year diploma in nursing from St. Peter’s Hospital School of Nursing in Albany, New York.  After her graduation, Helen was employed as a registered nurse at St. Peter’s Hospital.

A devoted wife and mother, Helen shared abundant love and faith with her family, always finding time to provide comfort, encouragement and support.    She loved tending to her flowers, vacations on Cape Cod and the “Miracle Mets”.  She was a faithful communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hudson Falls.

She was predeceased by her husband of 48 years, Robert M. Rourke; her brothers William, Paul, John and Roger Etu; her sisters Eleanor Etu, Mary Rose Higgins, Margaret McCarty, Jean Bowe and Patricia Etu.

Helen is survived by her loving daughter and constant companion, Mary Ann Rourke of Hudson Falls; two sons, William E. Rourke and his wife Deborah (Maille) of Hudson Falls, Michael Rourke and his wife Kathleen (O’Brien) of Bothell, Washington; two granddaughters, Caroline and Catherine Rourke, also of Bothell, Washington; several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Tuesday, June 10th, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at Carleton Funeral Home, 68 Main Street, in Hudson Falls.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 10th, at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Catholic Church on the park in Hudson Falls.  The Rite of Committal will follow at the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Fort Edward.

The family suggests that memorials take the form of donations to St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Catholic Church.

Shirley C. Baker

BakerQUEENSBURY – Shirley C. Baker, of The Stanton Nursing Home, passed away on Monday, June 2, 2014, at the Glens Falls Hospital.

Born June 11, 1923, in Hudson Falls, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Catherine (Martin) Winchell.

Shirley worked for many years as a department manager at Montgomery Ward’s in Queensbury. She later worked at CL + J, formerly in Queensbury.

She was a communicant of St. Michael the Archangel Church in South Glens Falls.

Shirley loved knitting, crocheting, crafts, and bingo at the Stanton. She was very caring and was always helping anyone with anything, even if she was sick.

Besides her parents, Shirley was predeceased by her husband, Robert Baker, her brothers, Donald Winchell, Kenneth Winchell, and her sister in law, Tina Winchell.

Survivors include her son, Robert Baker and Carol Baker Bronson; her grandsons, Marty Baker and his girlfriend Mari, Randy Baker; her granddaughter, Kimberly Baker; many great-grandchildren; her sister, Ada Crete and her husband, Roland; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; as well as her good friends, Celina and Ron Butler, and Shelly and Joe, Kim, Elaine and Bill; and many other good friends.

There will be no calling hours.

Graveside services will be held at a time to be announced at Southside Cemetery in the town of Moreau.

Brian Terry “Alfin” Smith

HUDSON FALLS – Brian Terry “Alfin” Smith, 31, passed away May 27, 2014 at Albany Medical Center after battling a long illness.

He was born March 12, 1982, in Glens Falls. Brian attended Hudson Falls School.

Brian had many enjoyments in life. He loved camping, fishing, poker, gambling, golfing, cooking, bonfires, and bowling. Brian loved spending time with his family and especially loved spending time with his mother and his dog, Bear.

Brian had a heart of gold; he would do anything for anyone. He went out of his way to make everyone around him happy and smiling.  

He was predeceased by his grandmother, Janet Foster.

Survivors include his mother, Linda Smith and Larry Carpenter; his father, Terry Smith; his brother Christopher Smith; his sister, Megan Sargent; his step brother, Larry Carpenter, Jr.; his grandmother, Jan Smith; his grandfather, George Smith; his two uncles, David Foster, Dean Schaefer; his three aunts, Jodie Foster, Connie Schaefer, Colleen Moreland; his cousins, Randy and Kayla Hodgkins; his son, Tyler Steves; as well as many friends.

There will be no services held.

An informal celebration of life will be held for family and friends, 11 a.m., on May 31, at Knapp Estate. Anyone needing further information may call Brian’s family.

Memorial donations can be made to any Liver Transplant Organization.

Frank W. Cain

HUDSON FALLS – Frank W. Cain, 71, of Fairview Lane, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on May 27, 2014, at the Glens Falls Hospital.

Born on March 25, 1943 in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Frank J. and Helen (Morency) Cain.

Frank was a graduate of Hudson Falls High School and continued his education, receiving his Bachelors in Accounting from Sienna College in Loudonville.

On September 16, 1968, Frank married Audrey White in South Glens Falls.

For several years, he was the Director of Finance and Administration at Rist-Frost Associates in Glens Falls and then started his own business, AC Discount Liquor in Hudson Falls.   Frank loved his store and all his customers for the past 27 years. He was respected and loved by everyone that he met.

Frank was a dedicated husband, loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather.   He was a kind patient man, who was a role model for his family and all those in his life.   Frank will be missed by everyone. He had a passion for watching the Mets and New York Giants. Frank also enjoyed listening to 50’s and 60’s music, taking care of his animals and traveling with his wife and children. According to Frank, “If you work hard, you need to enjoy what comes from it.”

Beside his parents, Frank is predeceased by his infant daughter, Tanya Susan Cain; his brother and best friend, Rip Cain; and his favorite dog, Ralphie.

Survivors include his loving wife of 45 years, Audrey Cain of Hudson Falls; his three children, Tamara MacBride and her husband, Angus of Charleston, SC, Kristen Cain-Ladison and her husband, Timothy of Williamsburg, VA, Kerri Carpenter and her significant other, Jeff Williams of Queensbury; eight grandchildren, Heather Corrigan, Timothy Barron, Wyatt Carpenter, Caroline Barron, Autumn Carpenter, Emma Carpenter, Katherine Ladison, Nolan Ladison; one great grandson, Connor Corrigan; his sisters, Carolyn Breckenhiemer and her husband, Edward, Marilyn Salamone, and her husband Frank, Sharon Smith and her significant other, Bob Cronin; his sister in law, Carol Cain; his dear friends, Jack Dunn, Jack Carpenter and Wesley Carpenter and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

At Frank’s request, there will be no services.

His family would like to thank the nurses and Dr. PIllemer of Tower 2, at the Glens Falls Hospital and also High Peaks Hospice for the wonderful compassionate care given to Frank and his family.

Peter John Prehoda

HUDSON FALLS – Peter John Prehoda, 65, of Hunt Ave, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at the Glens Falls Hospital.

Born on January 24, 1949, he was the only child of the late John and Mary (Mancini) Prehoda.

Peter graduated from Granville High School in 1967 and attended Penn State University.  In 1995, he graduated summa cum laude from Adirondack Community College.

Peter enjoyed his time working for Northern Homes and at Northern Design, until his retirement.

He was a gifted artist, his talents ranged from drawing to designing.  Peter  enjoyed working around his home and assisting his children with their homes.  He also loved traveling to races, watching fast cars and driving them too.

Peter is survived by his wife, Debra Prehoda of Hudson Falls; his children, Jesse Prehoda and his wife, Jennifer of Queensbury, Sara Bedard and her husband, Alex of Virginia and Zachary Prehoda and his wife, Beth of Hudson Falls; and his grandson, Rylan Prehoda of Hudson Falls.

Services will be private.

Peter’s family would like to thank the outstanding response and support of Fort Edward Rescue Squad and the care and compassion from the staff of Tower 5 at the Glens Falls Hospital.

Mary P. Pinkowski

pinkowskiHUDSON FALLS – Mary P. Pinkowski, 85, of Dean Road, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at the Glens Falls Hospital.

Born on February 6, 1929 in West Rutland, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Antonina  Rostkowski.

Mary was a graduate of West Rutland High School and on Nov. 22, 1947,she married Walter P. Pinkowski at the St. Stanislaus Church in West Rutland, Vermont.   They were married 51 years when he passed away on August 30, 1999.

For 24 years, Mary was employed as a winder at General Electric in Fort Edward, retiring in 1989.

She was a communicant of St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls.  Mary also belonged to the Sixty Plus Hudson Falls/Fort Edward Senior Citizens and the Glens Falls Senior Citizens.

She loved taking trips with her family, reading and swimming.   Mary enjoyed tending to her vegetable garden and going to flea markets.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her four sisters, Jane Sloan, Jean King, Betty Rucinski and Helen Burns; her brother, Edmund Jordan; and her son in law, “Rip” Cain.

Survivors include her six children, Daniel Pinkowski and his wife, Donna, of Glens Falls, Linda Rosati and her husband, Richard, of Florida, Carol Cain of Hudson Falls, Nancy Pinkowski of New York, Michael Pinkowski and his wife, Margaret, of Hudson Falls and Paula Mumblo and her husband, John, of Moreau; six grandchildren, John Pinkowski and his wife, Starr of Putnam Station, Brian Cain of Hudson Falls, Lisa Brown of South Glens Falls, Amanda Rosati of Florida, Matthew Pinkowski and Melissa Pinkowski, both of Hudson Falls; four great grandchildren, Carly Pinkowski of Putnam Station, Michael Brown III, Jacob Brown and Alexis Brown, all of South Glens Falls;  her great, great grandson, Brayden Davis;  and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be no calling hours.

A Memorial Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 29, at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church on the park in Hudson Falls.

The Rite of Committal will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 29 at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Veteran’s Cemetery in the town of Stillwater.

The family suggests that memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN  38105.

Paul David Wallach

WallachHUDSON FALLS – Paul David Wallach, Jr., 34, of Hudson Falls, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 18, 2014, due to a tragic accident.

Born April 2, 1980, in Hudson, he was the son of Paul Wallach, Sr. of Hudson, NY , and the late Sally (Simpson) Tompkins.

Paul was a graduate of Hudson Falls High School.  He loved to gamble, fish, draw, play cards, and spending time with his family.    He was known for being a jokester, and would do anything to see someone smile.  Most of all, he loved his children.

In addition to his mother, he was predeceased by his paternal grandmother, Katherine Wallach, his maternal grandparents, Margaret and Vincent Simpson and his aunt, Kathy Colvin.

He is survived by his children, Darin Wallach of Hudson Falls and Emalie Wallach of Fort Worth, Texas; his step father, Keith “Mike” Tompkins; his grandfather, Joseph Wallach and his wife, June of E. Chatham; his brother, Brian Wallach and his significant other, Angela Guzman of Fort Edward; his sister, Sara Wallach and her significant other, Patrick Dorsey of Fort Edward; many aunts and uncles; nieces and nephews, Eunity, Atrayu Wallach, Gracin Wallach, Kaleb, Jacob, Samuel Dorsey; many cousins and friends.

Family and friends may call Tuesday, 4 to 7 p.m. at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street, Hudson Falls.

The funeral service will follow the calling hours at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.

The Rite of Committal will take place Wednesday, 11 a.m., at St. Mary’s Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward with Rev. Thomas Babiuch, officiating.

Pall Bearers will be, Tim Simpson, Sr., PJ Northup, Butch Simpson, Jay Harrington, John Wright and Nate Harrington.

Jordan Myles “Monkey” Catellier,

20140522-113359-41639179.jpgHUDSON FALLS — Jordan Myles “Monkey” Catellier, 6, of Hudson Falls, went into the arms of the Lord, on Sunday, May 18, 2014.

He was born Jan. 29, 2008, in Glens Falls.

Jordan attended Hudson Falls Primary School in Mrs. North’s Class.

He loved his family, Spiderman and was a happy bubbly boy. Jordan loved the remote control, riding his bike, his battery operated Ford F-150 and he always wanted to help no matter what you were doing. He loved camping, fishing and swimming. Jordan was very independent and loved trying to figure things out on his own.

He was predeceased by his great-grandfather, Thomas Randle Sr. and his great- grandparents Elaine and Arthur Catellier.

Jordan is survived by his parents, Amy Catellier and Robert Scoville of Hudson Falls; his brothers, Peter Muratorri Jr., Tre Ingalls, Kyle Ingalls and Matthew Scoville; his grandparents, Tim and Joyce Catellier Sr. of Hudson Falls, Darlene Winslow of South Glens Falls and Robert Scoville Sr. of Glens Falls; his great-grandmother, Joyce Randle of Hudson Falls; Christopher Clark and his family and Patricia Lafferty and her family; and several aunts, uncles and cousins and friends.

Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, May 24, at Gospel Lighthouse Assembly of God Church on LaCrosse Street in Hudson Falls.

A funeral service will follow the calling hours at 11 a.m. at the church.

Burial will follow at Moss Street Cemetery in the town of Kingsbury.

Pall bearers will be his brothers, Peter Muratorri Jr., Tre Ingalls, Kyle Ingalls and Matthew Scoville.

Donations in Jordan’s memory may be made to the Jordan Catellier Fund, at any local Key Bank.

HUDSON FALLS – Frances Scicchitano,82, formerly of Coleman Ave, passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2014, at the Fort Hudson Health Care Facility.

Born January 19, 1932 in Clifton Park, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Maria (Divina) Giada.

On May 12, 1951, she married Louis Scicchitano, Jr., at the Church of the Madonna Della Libera in West New York, NJ.

Frances was the owner and operator of the Textile Outlet on Main St., Hudson Falls. She closed the store in 1997. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s/ St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls. Frances was the best mom in the world. Mr. and Mrs. Scicchitano loved Hudson Falls and invested their time and talents into the village.

Besides her parents, Frances was predeceased by several brothers and sisters.

Survivors include her four children, Christina Putnam and her husband, Ron of Hudson Falls, Francis Scciccitano and his wife, Zvia of Kansas, Louis Sccichitano III and his wife, Marian of Missouri, Theresa Sitterly and her husband, Donald of Hudson Falls; seven grandchildren, Maria, Lisa, Dean, Rachel, Gabriella and Eric and Danielle; her great grandchildren, Christopher, Louis, Frances and Zoe; her brother, Ronald Giada of Hudson Falls, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

The Funeral Mass will be conducted Thursday, 11 a.m., at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls.

The Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Fort Edward.

The family would like to thank the CNA’s, nurses and staff at the Fort Hudson Falls Health Care Facility for all their care and compassion.

Mary Jane Packard

HUDSON FALLS – Mary Jane Packard, 95, formerly of Clark Street and the G. Roswell Earl High Rise, passed away on Saturday, May 17, 2014, at the Washington Center for Health and Rehabilitation.

 Born on January 22, 1919 in Bridgeport, CT, she was the daughter of the late James and Madeline (Perkette) Harsha.

Her husband, Alfred L. Packard died on November 3, 1972.

Mrs. Packard was a communicant of St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls.

Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Ruth Brunelle.

Survivors include her two sons, James A. Packard and his wife, Mary Jane of Hudson Falls and Gregory A. Packard and his wife, Debbie of Brockport; her two daughters, Mary Lynne Morency and her husband, Michael of Hudson Falls and Ann Haynes and her husband, Tim of Albuquerque, NM; four grandchildren, Michael Packard and his wife, Nichole of Glens Falls, Lindsay Dashew and her husband, Jason of Delmar, Geoffrey Packard and his wife Chelsea of Union City, NJ, and Justin Packard and his wife, Sara of Boston; two great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

All service and burial will be private and at the convenance of the family.

The Rite of Committal will be at Union Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.

 We would like to wish a heartfelt thanks to the employees of Pleasant Valley Infirmary, now known of Washington Center, for the excellent care and treatment of our mother during the several years that she lived there.
