FORT EDWARD – Arthur “Art” Wells, Sr., 82 of Mahaffey Road, went into the arms of the Lord on Friday, January 11, 2019, at The Pines in Glens Falls.
Born on May 2, 1936, in East Windsor Hill, CT, he was the son of the late Joseph and Beatrice Wells, Sr.
Art was married to Lena B. (LaPlante) Wells, mother of his children, for over 24 years. For the past 32 years, he shared his life with his best friend, Sharon Dickinson, who passed away this past July.
Art was a longtime business owner in the area. He established AW Paving and Seal Coating in Fort Edward. The paving business was a large part of his life. Art loved working alongside his children and also meeting and making many friends along the way.
He was a dedicated father, grandfather, brother and friend. Art loved his hot cup of tea and visiting with his family and friends. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially camping with his children. He was a car enthusiast, who loved attending car shows and restoring old cars. Art was very proud of the work done on his 1975 Dodge Truck. Although, his favorite car was always the 1957 Chevy. Family was the center of Art’s life. He was so proud of his children and grandchildren and enjoyed every moment with them.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his companion, Sharon Dickinson, his brother, Samuel Wells and his sister, Ann Wells.
Art is survived by his loving children, James Wells, Arthur Wells Jr. and his wife, Wendy, Michelle Allison, Gary Wells and his wife, Jennifer, Leonard Wells, William Wells and his wife, Melynda, Beatrice Greenough and her husband, Mike and Karen Wells and her companion, Frank Smith; his two brothers, Joseph Wells and his wife, Audrey and William “Willy” Wells; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; his many nieces, nephews and cousins; and his special friend, Ray Kirby.
Friends may call on Wednesday, January 16, 2019, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

I remember Art from back when my father was younger and I was just a kid. GREAT GUY and he had a love for cars and trucks as did my Dad and I do. Will miss seeing him this summer

Cousin Arthur you will be missed by all the cousins left behind. I am so happy to hear that you did know our Lord an Saviour Jesus Christ. You have been blessed with a loving wonderful family. I can tell by all their expressions of their love for you on line. Families are a special blessing. That close relationship is not experienced by everyone, all those memories will help with their dad’s tremendous loss. So good by for now, I know we will meet again on the other side.
