FORT EDWARD – Adoniram Joseph “AJ” Huntington, III, 59, of McCrea Street, passed away, surrounded by his loving family, on Monday, June 20, 2016, at Albany Stratton Veteran’s Medical Center in Albany.
Born on October 16, 1956, in England, was the son of “AJ” Huntington, Jr and Doreen (Lupton) Sisler.
AJ was proud to have served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp. While serving in the Marine Corp., he worked hard to obtain his GED. Following his honorable discharge, he lived in Greenville, N.C. for several years, where he was employed at a local grain factory. AJ then decided to come back home to Hudson Falls in order to be close to his family roots. Then he began his lifelong passion of being a chef. AJ loved working at Applebee’s from 1998, until his retirement in 2012.
After moving back home he met the love of his life, Wanda Brayman while working at his father’s restaurant in Hudson Falls. After being together for 10 years, they married on June 20, 2008, for a total of 18 wonderful years.
AJ enjoyed bowling in area tournaments. He was an avid NASCAR fan and especially enjoyed watching Jeff Gordon. AJ also loved hunting with his brothers in the Adirondacks and fishing with his wife at different local spots. He also was an great fan of General Hospital, and during the show, he would call his mother to compare notes. But, he was not allowed to tell his wife what happened because she would watch it later. AJ was also a lifelong proud member of the Hudson Falls American Legion Post 574.
Most of all, he loved his family and was very close to his grandchildren. AJ took them on many wonderful local adventures. He also loved his dogs “Bear” his boy, Daisy Lu and his grand-doggies. AJ enjoyed traveling with his wife to see his sister, Theresa in San Antonio, Texas. He was a wonderful husband, great father, adoring grandfather and was always there for his brothers and sisters. AJ will be remembered for being full of jokes and love, and will be greatly missed by his family and all those who were close to him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Wanda Huntington of Fort Edward; his mother, Doreen Sisler of Ill; his father, AJ Huntington, Jr and his wife, Ella of Hudson Falls; his children, “AJ” Huntington, IV of Glens Falls, Brandy Wilson and her husband, Brandon of N.C., Christopher Huntington of NY, Stephen Brayman and his fiancée, Crystal Burdick of Fort Edward, John Snow, Jr. of South Glens Falls and Kristy Knapp and her husband, Chris of Hudson Falls; his 10 grandchildren, Morgan Knapp, Alyssa Knapp, Destiny Snow, Alana Snow, Stephen (Brayman), LaPlant, Eli Brayman, Hannah Wilson, Brandon Wilson, Jr., Rosemary Huntington and Adriana Huntington; his siblings, Kevin Huntington and is companion, Tina Weatherwax of Hudson Falls, Steven Huntington and his wife, Donna of South Glens Falls, Theresa Salaiz and her husband, Daniel, San Antonio, TX, and Linda Kress and her husband, Douglas of Ill; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, at the funeral home, with the Reverend Thomas Babiuch, officiating.
The Rite of Committal will follow at Gansevoort Cemetery in Gansevoort, with full military honors provided by the Hudson Falls American Legion, Post 574 Color Guard.
Following the burial, all are welcome to a reception at the Hudson Falls American Legion, Post 574, 92 Pearl Street in Hudson Falls.
