Robert “Bob” O’Connell

O'ConnellHUDSON FALLS- Robert H. “Bob” O’Connell, 78, of Catherine Street, went into the arms of the Lord, on Sunday, July 29, 2018.

Born on August 1, 1939, in Fort Edward, he was the son of the late Robert A. and Beverly (Moore) O’Connell.

Following his graduation from Hudson High School and attending the University of Vermont, Bob enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he proudly served his country working on airplanes. While stationed in Columbus, Ohio, he met the woman who would become his future wife, Dorothy Anderson.

Bob and Dorothy (Dottie) were married on June 2nd,1962 in Ironton, Ohio and had 56 wonderful years together.

He was an electrician by trade for all of his life, first employed at Hercules, which later became known as Ciba Geigy. He then transferred to Finch Pruyn in Glens Falls and worked there until his retirement.

Bob’s faith was very important to him and he was baptized into the Baptist faith.

He enjoyed tending his vegetable garden and loved to watch Abbot & Costello and Laurel & Hardy.  He was also a big fan of “Sons of the Pioneers”, one of the earliest country western groups.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his two aunts, Ila Van Arsdal and Daryl Harrington; and his mother and father in law, Elmer and Bessie Anderson of Ironton, Ohio.

Survivors include his loving wife, Dorothy “Dottie” O’Connell of Hudson Falls; his children, Tracee Doroski and her husband, Cliff of Santee, South Carolina and Scott O’Connell and his wife, Brandi of Summerville, South Carolina; his grandchildren, Adam Gannon and Heather Gannon, both of South Carolina; his great grandchild, Isabelle Greenough; his sister, Donna Kegan and her husband, Jack of Fort Edward; his sister-in-law, Hazel Fields of Ironton, Ohio; his brother-in-law, Harry Anderson and his wife, Glenna of Milton, Florida; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

At Bob’s request, there will be no calling hours and services will be for the immediate family only.

Burial will take place at Union Cemetery in Fort Edward.

The family suggests that donations in Bob’s name be made to Fort Edward Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 226, Fort Edward, NY 12828.

Arrangements are under the care of Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street, Hudson Falls, NY.
