SOUTH GLENS FALLS – Catherine I. (Quartiers) Robbins, 59, of Bluebird Rd., went to be with the Lord and her beloved family at Glens Falls Hospital, on September 17, 2013, after a courageous 10 year battle with Renal Cell Cancer.
Born in Glens Falls on December 23, 1953, she was the daughter of the late Clifford and Elsie (McAuley) Quartiers. Catherine always said that Christmas is Jesus’ celebration and not mine.
Catherine graduated from Hudson Falls Central School.
On February 4, 1989, she married Edwin George Robbins at West Glens Falls Community Chapel.
For over 30 years, she worked at Glens Falls Hospital, as a technician, ward clerk, and then finally in medical records. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Volunteer Fire Police Association of New York and an honorary support group member of the Saratoga County Volunteer Fire Police Association, Inc.. She loved attending Fire Police Conventions with her husband.
She enjoyed bowling, and bingo with her mother. In her later years she liked the Saratoga Racino. She loved her dogs Harry, Georgie, and Harley.
Catherine is survived by her loving husband, Edwin Robbins of South Glens Falls; her sister, Rita Quartiers, and her friend Steve of Hudson Falls; her brothers, Clifford Quartiers, and his wife Mary of Queensbury, Joseph Quartiers, and his wife Brenda of South Glens Falls, and James Quartiers of South Glens Falls; along with several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. om Friday at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St., Hudson Falls.
Funeral services will take place on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Tony Childs, pastor of St. Michael the Archangel Church in South Glens Falls officiating.
The Rite of Committal will follow at Moss Street Cemetery in the town of Kingsbury
A reception will follow the Rite of Committal at the Gansevoort Fire Department on Rte 32, in Gansevoort.
